• Make Sure you know the Rules of the Road Each state and each country will have a different set of traffic laws for motorcycles. So make sure you are well aware of the traffic laws in the particular area you are traveling in.

• Make Doubly Sure you have a Proper License. Though you may know how to ride a bike properly and you have full faith in your abilities to competently motorcycle, even on crowded public roads, you should not do so if you do not have a proper license. You are endangering your own safety and the lives of the public at large. Once you have finished your rider training course, take the test and acquire a proper motorcycling license.

• Now for the bike. This is the moment you have been waiting for - your very own motorcycle. But have your considered all the options and what each one will cost you? You can either borrow or rent or make an outright purchase of a bike. Each will have its own risks and benefits. Plan ahead by considering which option you can best afford now.

• Buy Proper Safety Gear. While riding powerful motorbikes at high speeds may be great fun, it is also extremely high-risk. Especially at risk are newcomers who have yet to master riding bikes in unfamiliar and unexpected situations. The best protection you can get is from using proper safety gear. Make sure you have a helmet that fits well, pair of motorcycle boots that give ankle protection, good fitting leather gloves and leather jacket.
