Wouldn’t it be nice if the healthy way to speed up your metabolism was a metabolism pill? If there was a metabolism pill then everyone would be skinny and in shape. It seems everything in life that we want doesn’t come easy. I wish I could tell you that there was an easy way to boost your metabolism, but I can’t do that. What I can do is to teach you some tricks that should help you increase your metabolism.

In the past it was believed that in order to speed up your metabolism you would need to exercise for hours and hours, several times a week. What we know now is that there are some key factors and specific methods to exercising that will have you burning more fat than you thought possible. While aerobic exercise is a great way to lose weight, it alone is not the best way to lose weight and keep it off. What we all want to know is how to speed up metabolism.

Strength training is a key answer to this question, no there is no metabolism pill, lift weights, perform aerobic exercise and eat correctly. This answer is a little over simplified but you can get the biggest bang for your buck simply by starting to lift weights 3 times a week for 30 minutes. The more lean muscle you have on your body the higher your metabolism will be. Body fat stores calories where muscle burns calories. Your goal should be to increase your overall muscle mass and or course decrease your body fat. The two of these go hand in hand because as you increase your lean muscle mass you should see a decrease in body fat. To speed the weight loss process and kick start your metabolism you should also work aerobic exercise, for 20 minutes 2 to 3 times a week, into your new lifestyle.

There is no need to go on any of those fad diets or join any fancy gym. You just need to decide that you want to be healthier. You need to do a little lifestyle tweaking or in some cases major overhauls. The thing to remember is to stick with your exercise plans and not to start out to difficult or gung ho, because you don’t want to quit your regimen before you get to realize the benefits. A good start would be to do two total body strength training workouts each week, always give yourself at least one day in between workouts. Then on alternate days you can do aerobic exercise such as, cycling, jogging, swimming or visit any of the cardio machines you can find in the gyms.

I hope that I was able to provide you with a foundation to begin your quest of learning how to speed up metabolism. The key here is there is no magic metabolism pill. The healthy way to increase your metabolism is to strength train, do aerobic exercise and eat right. Short cuts won’t work, you need to overhaul your lifestyle and become healthier.
