Hoyt Buck, a young Kansas blacksmith apprentice, was looking for a better way to temper steel so it would hold an edge longer. After a bit of experimentation, he came up with a unique approach and produced the very first Buck knife.

Hoyt Buck fabricated each knife by hand using worn-out file blades as the raw material for the blades and tangs. Years later, after his work had begun to be appreciated by soldiers during World War II, Hoyt and his son Al moved Buck Knives to San Diego and set up shop as H.H. Buck & Son in 1947.

In 1964 Al Buck produced the first folding lock blade knife, the Model 110 Folding Hunter. This knife revolutionized the knife industry and established Al as a leading knife maker and innovator and placed Buck Knives at the top of an elite group of premium knife manufacturers.

Now under the leadership of third and fourth generation Buck family members, the company carries forward its commitment to innovative development, high quality and customer satisfaction.

Every Buck knife made today uses the very best materials and state-of-the-art technology to create knives that meet or exceed the exacting demands you would expect of other high quality knives. Buck backs up that quality with an unprecedented lifetime warranty, the famous Buck 4-Ever Warranty.

Careful Design and Quality Production

Each knife Buck makes – and the variety is enormous – has been thoroughly designed, engineered and tested for quality. Advanced knowledge of the properties of steel and other metals means that ultimately all Buck knives will have just the right blend of characteristics to ensure years of trouble-free use. The correct application of heat treating and tempering the steel helps the blade hold its edge longer and makes resharpening easier.

Buck’s quality standards don’t stop with the knife itself. Buck Knives solicits feedback from its customers on a regular basis to help it analyze small details like feel, blade strength, operation and overall value and usefulness. For this reason, Buck knives are known to be refreshingly free from gimmicky features that usually manage to lessen the customer’s estimation of these otherwise useful tools over time. Buck takes the idea of extreme attentiveness to customer feedback one step further by offering to make a knife for anyone, using that person’s ideas, in their Custom Knife Shop.

Buck pocket knives and Buck folding lock blade knives, along with their many other design varieties all share a common feature - meticulous attention to detail.

And this translates into knives that will last a lifetime and come through when you need them the most. These knives can be counted on whether you are an outdoorsman, law enforcement officer or military man - under extreme conditions and in many situations.

Razor Sharp Knives offers several styles of Buck pocket knives for your use. Check them out and let us know if you have questions or need help in selecting just the right one for you now.

Buck also makes many folding lock blade knives that find usage when smaller pocket knives just won't do. Buck folding knives incorporate some of the same attention to detail and quality construction methods that all other knives have. You can't go wrong with a Buck folding lock blade knife.
