Camping is one of the most popular recreational activities. Such is a perfect idea if you want a whole new adventure to share with your family and friends. However, before you set out for your camping site, the first thing that you ought to do is to prepare all the amenities and equipment that you will need for your most awaited activity. In the case of camping, the primary gear that you need is a tent.

There is a wide variety of choices when it comes to choosing a camping tent. The best way to find the perfect tent depends on your specific needs for the actual camping activity. Below are some tips that you ought to consider when picking the perfect camping tent:

a. Before you buy a tent, make sure that you are well aware of your purpose. Determine how and where you will be using your tent. If you will use the tent for a family camping, you should consider the space that it provides. Will the space be enough for your family? Also consider the ventilation and the comfort that it can offer. In case you are going to use the tent for backcountry camping, you should also consider the size and weight.

b. Mull over the type of material that is used for the tent. Make sure that it matches your camping style. If you are bound to camp in places where you will be exposed to too much sunlight, choose tents made out of polyester. If you want a lightweight tent that’s perfect for camping activities after a long hike, opt for those that are made of nylon. However, if you prioritize durability above anything else, choose something that’s made out of canvass.

c. You should also choose a tent style that fits your needs and qualifications. Basically, there are two styles available – the cabin and the dome. Cabin styled tents have huge windows and high ceilings. They are technically bigger than Dome styled tents and they often come in multi-room varieties. As for the Dome styled tents, these tents are a lot smaller than cabin styled tents but they are more suitable for varying weather conditions.

d. Before you buy a tent, consider the number of people that will be using it. Take in consideration the various activities that will be made inside the tent. If you are planning to store gear and other equipment inside the tenth, consider a lager tent in parallel with the number of people who will be sleeping in it. Keep in mind that most tent sizes do not have storage space for you gears.

e. You should also consider the ease of set up especially if you are a beginner or if you are gong to camp alone. If you are not familiar of how tents are usually set, opt for those which have clear instructions and illustrations. Try to find tents that offer color codes as guides for the set up.

f. Choose the tent which has the best quality. Check the poles. Note that those that are made of fiberglass are highly durable but aluminum poles are more lightweight. Do not forget to check the stitches and the seams, the zippers, stakes, windows, door mesh, and the ground cloth.
