With the holidays approaching many people are overwhelmed with the amount of presents they are going to have to purchase for friends and family. During this trying economic time many people don’t have a ton of money to purchase presents. Here are a few tips that can help any holiday shopper stay within their budget.

One of the most important things that holiday shoppers can do is to sit down and create a budget on how much money they are able and willing to spend on presents. Credit card bills following Christmas almost always leaves shoppers in shock because many people don’t realize the amount of money they are spending on presents. One way to deal with this situation is by sitting down and making a list of who you are going to buy presents for, and how much you are willing to spend on each person. This will allow you to create a simple budget for holiday spending. You should make this list by yourself when you have free time in order to do what you want to do, and to alleviate the pressure that making the list with other people may put on you. Also, it is very common for people to feel pressured into purchasing presents for people who are purchasing presents for them. Don’t feel pressured; just make sure to thank anyone who gives you a gift.

Another thing that many holiday shoppers overlook is how much they set aside for each person on their list. You made a budget for a reason, now follow it. If you decide to spend $15 on your best friend, spend $15 on your best friend! Sometimes can be made easier if you go shopping with only $15 dollars in your pocket, this will force you to only purchase things that are within your budget. Also, sometimes the best deals that you can find are on the internet. Many electronic and clothing stores have great deals before the holidays, so shop ahead and look for some great deals online that can save you a few bucks. Besides here being great deals in the few months before the holidays, there are also great deals after the holidays. This is when many companies are trying to get rid of the past year inventories and are willing to lower prices on goods, so instead of spending an outrageous amount before the holidays, give the person an IOU and grab them a gift after the holidays.

One of the best gifts you can give a friend is a gift from the heart, most of the time gifts like this are easy on your budget and fun to make. There are tons of different types of ideas out there that can make anyone on your list smile. Why not try baking cookies for your best friends and tying them in a pretty bow? Or instead of making something for them, do an activity together that you will both find meaningful.
