The first thing you have to know about anxiety is that it is a normal reaction of the body to every day stress. However, anxiety must already be considered as a problem when it already affects your life and negatively impacts your personal relationships, career and social life. Just like any other medical condition, prevention of anxiety is better than cure that is why medical researchers take pains in looking into every possible cause of anxiety disorder.

You may ask now, what causes your anxiety? If you have anxiety, remember that your case is unique from others. It means that there is no generalized cause for anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorder may be rooted from three known major causes: genetics, brain chemistry and personality and environment.

Genetics

Some researches suggest that anxiety disorder is hereditary that it can be passed on from an ascendant to a descendant. It is more likely that a person may have anxiety disorder if such disorder runs in the family. If any of your grandparents, parents or siblings then had a history of anxiety disorder, take it as a warning that there is a high possibility that you could acquire the same. Hence, you should be alert about its signs and symptoms to determine the existence of an anxiety disorder at the earliest time possible.

Brain chemistry

Chemicals in the brain is also said to be one root causes of anxiety disorder. According to research, patients with anxiety have abnormal neurotransmitters in the brain, which are responsible in transmitting information such as feeling and thought to the brain. Imbalance is these chemicals can lead to anxiety and depression. This is precisely why the medications you take for anxiety target to improve the balance of these chemicals to restore them to normal levels so that you may be relieved of your anxiousness.

Personality and Environmental

The environment you were exposed to plays an important role in the formation of your personality. Your life experiences especially during childhood may make or break you in dealing with anxiety. Because of this and other than the fact that people are unique from each other, they also react differently when confronted with different situations. For example, in the same situation, one person may feel anxious but you may not or the other way around.

There are also life stressors that contribute to the occurrence of anxiety. Such stressors may be negative experiences such as loss of employment, death of a loved one, impairment of a relationship, financial problems, career demands and school pressure. Stressors may also involve changes that are good yet challenging such as marriage, transfer to a new home, pregnancy and childbirth.

Other causes of anxiety may also be stress, trauma and withdrawal from a long-term use of a drug whether for medical or reaction purposes and excessive intake of coffee or tea.

Whatever the cause of your anxiety disorder is, such mental disorder is a serious problem that you have to deal with right away at the beginning of the first symptoms. Try to learn and understand what causes your anxiety so that you can better respond to any treatment. Never hesitate to ask for advice from a doctor because there is help and remember that you are not alone.
