If you will try to ask a heartbroken person the meaning of heartbreak this would probably not equate what Thesaurus and Oxford have to say. A person who has gone through this kind of state and those who is going through this grief at this very moment can attest that the feeling can be more than just disaster, more than just distress.

You might never know the feeling especially if you are not on the other person's shoe. This being said, you can still treat heartbreak and get back the ones you love only if you know how to divert your attention, set your own purpose and your willingness to get over this whole thing.

The first thing you can do is to take away all the things that remind more of your ex. Your house or your room might be full of memories and this is where you need to start over and pick up the pieces of your love and life in general. Of course, you cannot go on for few days or weeks without your partner, however, you have to remind yourself that life is not the way it used to be and you have to compose yourself and move on.

For men, you can go out with your friends and call them, they would surely love hearing from you. Most importantly, go to your family, if there are people who knows you more and who can really give a helping hand, its definitely them.

Keep in mind heartbreak is not a license to punishing yourself and making your life miserable. Some people would often deal with the heartache intensely that they forget what they are doing to themselves. What do you mean by punishing and torture during a major heartbreak? It is when the time you welcome all thoughts of your ex, you hear sad love songs that would remind of your love, you go to places where you first met, you go to your favorite restaurant and even watch the movie you both enjoy watching. These are simple tortures! And this will not help you move on.

As a final point, when you see all these things are not helping you, you can have this matter sitting down with your ex. Talk things over. Be honest and tell your partner that you cannot go on with life without him/her. Sometimes heartbreak can lead to reconciliation only if you become open with each other's feelings, learn to admit your mistakes and be prepared to make amends to finally get over a major heartbreak and get back to each other's arms once more.
