For centuries, Chinese doctors and healers have known about the healing properties and slimming ability of green tea. Today, modern science and lengthy studies have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that green tea is one of the healthiest beverages on the planet. Healthier, in fact, than pure water!

What? Green tea is healthier than water? Surely that has to be a joke. But it’s not. Dr. Carrie Ruxton, from the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, says “Drinking tea is actually better for you than drinking water. Water is essentially replacing fluid. Tea replaces fluids and contains antioxidants so it’s got two things going for it.”

Health problems such as heart disease, cellular degeneration, diabetes, cancer, aging, and a plethora of other maladies are caused by nasty little toxins called “free radicals”. Free radical damage is caused by everyday exposure to various environmental factors and is basically unavoidable. That’s where the antioxidants found in green tea come in. Antioxidants act as “free radical scavengers” and protect the body from damage.

What does that mean for you? Let’s take a quick look at some of the more exciting health benefits that come from drinking green tea…

Green Tea Fights Cancer & Disease

As mentioned earlier, green tea is jam-packed with antioxidants. Some especially potent ones called “catechins” and “polyphenols” are extra capable of terminating free radicals and protecting against heart disease, strokes, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and many forms of cancer.

Green Tea Promotes Healthy, Beautiful Skin

The same antioxidants in green tea that fight cancer and disease also promote healthy, beautiful skin by terminating free radicals that attack skin cells. Free radical damage causes skin spots and wrinkles, but the antioxidants in green tea help keep the damage to a minimum.

Green Tea Boosts the Immune System

A 2003 study compared tea drinkers to coffee and found that the production of anti-bacterial proteins was five times higher in tea drinkers, which indicates a much stronger immune system. Two years later, another study found that the catechin antioxidants greatly inhibited the influenza virus…also known as the common flu.

Green Tea Fights Bad Breath & Promotes Healthy Teeth

Researchers at the University of Illinois in Chicago found that polyphenol antioxidants in green tea work as an anti-bacterial and inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause bad breath. These antibacterial properties also help the teeth and gums.

Green Tea Boosts the Metabolism & Burns Fat

One of the most well known benefits of green tea is, quite possibly, its ability to boost the metabolism and lose the pounds. In fact, you’ll find green tea extract in almost every diet pill and fat burning supplement on the market, and for good reason.

The powerful antioxidants in green tea are at it again. This time stimulating the nervous system, boosting the metabolism, and causing fat to be released into the body to be used as fuel. This not only burns fat, but also provides a boost of energy at the same time.

The many benefits of green tea are simply mind boggling. If you’re even halfway concerned about having a fit body, you’d be crazy not to replace every nutritionally harmful soft drink, fattening latté, and sugar-packed fruit juice with this healthy beverage.
