With gas price keep going up, it is almost impossible to bring the flight tickets down. This might be the trigger for the booming in the point rewards programs such as Air miles, Aero points and many others. Most of major credit cards or Bank Cards now offers these options. A reward for every dollar spent on their card will give you free tickets or at least discounted ones. Globalization means more people will need to fly to connect with each other. And this means more and more people will take the reward point program and therefore the credit cards with this reward bonus will be their first choice. If we were to spend money, we might as well each dollar we spent give something back for us.

There were a good side and not so good side about this travel point's bonus. The bad side is almost none. It was clear in your monthly statements how much point you have earned so far. Some even tells you how far can you fly with the points you have. The not so good part is mainly for the limitations of date available. Your traveling time must be so flexible to be able to use your points and fly. Meaning, if you have to fly tomorrow for a funeral, you may not be able to use your points. But not to worry, when you buy your ticket with your point reward credit card, you are actually accumulating more points to redeem your free flight one day!

In a holiday season, chances are you will not get any flight with your points as well. In another word, you will be put on the least priority. After all you are going to fly for free. Those who are paying for their tickets for sure will be the priority. Unfortunately the holiday season is more than the non-holiday ones. There is almost no low season in flying. Starting with December as a high season for Christmas and new years holiday. Then comes winter, where most people will take a break and find sunny destinations. When spring finally comes, there will be Spring Break Holiday for kids, which are another peak seasons in traveling world. April and May might be considered as the lowest season and may be the best time to plan to redeem your points and get your free flight!

If you wait too long, summer will catch up with another peak in traveling season. Don't forget that each country have a different summer-winter time. In North America winter would fall between December to February. Whereas in Australia, their winter fell around July-August. If you think after summer will be a low season, think again. Because in some country the winter holiday may just starting.

On top of that, you are not the only 'point redeemer flyer'. There are millions other people who were also waiting for the low season to redeem and use their point to fly for free! The low season became a high season for this point redeemer flyers. At the end of the day, there is almost no low season in the airline calendar.

The only way to use your point for free traveling is to make a good plan. You have to put the date available as your priority. Find your destination. How far you can go with your points is the most important thing. Check often to the site and book it when it's available. Work it from there. If you book a flight in May, check your schedule for May and make arrangement. Let your office know that you are planning to take a day off in May. If you have kids, you will have to arrange it with school as well. A good arrangement will let you use your points easier and earn your reward faster. Some of this points might have a time limit. If you failed to use it within their time frame, you may loose it and will have to start collecting again from zero! You may want to check all the rules and regulations before deciding on which point reward program to choose.

It seems complicated but at least it gives us options. We all spend money on our credit card anyway, so why not take the bonus of flying for free? When and how you are going to use it, it's up to you.
