Christmas is just around the corner! That means it's time to start thinking about what to get everyone as gifts for Christmas day. While it can get expensive, one way to save a little money is to make up your Christmas cards yourself. Here's how.

There is a certain feeling that arises when you make your own Christmas card for someone special in your life. These cards are the true expression of the person and usually have much value to the recipient than store bought card, no matter how expensive they may be. The first step in the making of these cards is to find out the interest of the recipient. Are you creating a card for your special friend?

Which do you prefer, a Christmas card with something humorous or one with a real serious sentimental tone? To make a funny card, use cartoons, there are plenty to choose from! A sentimental card on the other hand might mean you need to gather cutouts of flower pictures. You can choose to draw your own graphics if you possess the talent.

You also need to decide why you are sending the greeting card, after all there has to be a reason. Perhaps it is for someone special who you want to send a personal note to for Christmas - maybe it is just because you care!

The next thing you have to do is write the copy for your greeting card. You can choose to use a poem you like as your message or better still, write your own. You should remember though, that when you copy someone else's poetry onto your card, you cannot sell the card because copyright laws forbid you to sell someone else's work without permission. It can be used to send to a loved one or a family member without there being any repercussions.

Once you know who the recipient is and the occasion, you can start to construct your greeting card. Collect all flowers, rhinestones, and paper you need before you begin as this will make the process simpler. Perhaps a nice ribbon or lace will be a welcoming addition to make it stand out.

It is fun to create when there is no limit or restrictions on what you are allowed to do with your greeting card. Now the only limit is your own imagination. Now is the time to let go of your limits, and leave no space for fear as you explore new ways to decorate the card. Your loved one is sure to enjoy your hard work, effort and how much you care showed by your handmade greeting card for years to come!

Christmas is a special time. You can make it that much more special for your loved ones on Christmas day by putting that little bit of extra effort in and sending them a hand made Christmas card. It shows you care and will be so much more appreciated by the ones you love!
