Another major tourist destination in the US is San Francisco. With its successful history and culture, it is difficult to narrow down the best of San Francisco’s attraction and highlights.

THE BRIDGE

The Golden Gate Bridge defined and became the symbol of San Francisco. Yes, the bridge is not made of gold. However, the International Orange color of the bridge was selected because it provides visibility in the fog for passing vehicles like the ship. It is tagged as the busiest bridge in the US carrying a total of ten lanes. Walk or ride a bicycle across the bridge to experience the breathtaking oceanic scene where the Bay meets the Pacific Ocean. The stunning skyline can be seen from the sidewalk that spans its length. A group boat charter or ferry is another way to view the bridge.

Here are just some of San Francisco’s attraction and wonderful destinations that tourist may consider when travelling to the city.

THE ROCK

Alcatraz, an isolated island known as the “rock” and was once became a famous name that housed criminals. It is breathtakingly beautiful built on its own island that it can make you forget it was a prison. The prison holds a fascinating history as a Federal Prison from 1934 - 1963. The most notorious criminals Al “Scarface” Capone and the Birdman Robert Stroud was housed in this island.

THE WATERFRONT

Fisherman’s Wharf possesses an amazing waterfront. It is a popular destination for all ages. The wharf can be reached by a cable car. It also features the Pier 39 shopping and restaurant mall. Watching the sea lions is a unique experience. The Wharf is a take-off point to cruise in San Francisco Bay going to Alcatraz tour boat. It shows some of the most amazing views of San Francisco Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, and the stunning cityscape.

THE CABLE CAR

San Francisco is best known for its use of cable cars. This mode of classical transportation since the late 1800’s is still in use as of today. The cable cars are still considered as among major tourist attractions and have become an icon for the city of San Francisco.

THE VIEW

Twin Peaks is at the heart of the city. There is no finer place to see the whole city than atop the hill. With its panoramic views, it is a must on every tourist’s lists. Stand at an elevation of 922 feet and revel in the striking 360 views of the most magnificent cityscape of San Francisco.

THE PARK

Golden Gate Park was landscaped in 1870’s. It is the third most visited park. You will admire the beautiful terrain which includes millions of trees, nine lakes and ponds. The park consists of various gardens including the Arboretum, The Conservatory of Flowers and the Japanese Tea Garden.

THE SHOPPING TRIP

Shopping in San Francisco includes shopping in malls and unique boutiques. With a variety of options from a legendary department store – Macy’s to an unbelievable clothing line – Nordstrom. For bargain shopping deals, check out Vacaville, Gilroy and Napa.

THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

Everybody loves chocolates. Ghirardelli chocolate is delicious. The Ghirardelli Square is a large chocolate factory that has been reduced to a chocolate store and eatery. The factory is very busy as the gush of people lining up to buy some chocolates.

THE ROMANCE

San Francisco is one of one of the most romantic cities in the US. The city recently celebrated the marriage for all - same sex marriage. Albeit the ruling received countless of opinions from different sectors, no one can stop the outpouring romance at San Francisco.
