Managing a kitchen is not merely arranging things, but also about handling food and cooking. To save time and energy in the kitchen, follow some easy-to-do recommendations.

Here are some kitchen tips top help you manage a kitchen:
Planning
• Choose a menu: Plan ahead the food to be served for the week. Balanced combination consists of a rice dish, main dish and a salad.

• List ingredients: Prepare a list of things you will need in cooking. Prioritize the main ingredients. Shop for ingredients a week in advance.

• Write down unusual items: Listing unusual items from the grocery can give new ideas for your next menu.

• Fresh vegetables: Leafy vegetables die easily even when kept inside the refrigerator. Clean and wrap the veggies in paper and refrigerate to extend their freshness.

• Read cooking steps: Read the recipe many times and familiarize the methods indicated before actually cooking.

• Recipe pre-tasting: Eat in a restaurant and try to get the taste of the ingredients used.

Pre-preparation
• Vegetables: Soak vegetables in water for ½ hour before putting it onto heat, for faster cooking.

• Tomatoes: To regain the hardness of a soft tomato, place it in cold water and add one liter of salt. It will harden in 10 minutes.

• Rice grains: Neem and turmeric pieces or even garlic are put in the rice grain container to keep away from insects.

• Ginger and Garlic paste: Prepare a ginger and garlic paste for later cooking. Mix a pinch of salt to the paste and refrigerate it to seal in freshness.

• Fresh ginger: Put it inside the freezer when not used.

• Tasty Dosa: Add a teaspoon of seeds with rice and dal during soaking.

• Soft Dosas: Add boiled rice to white gram while grinding.

• Crispy Dosas: While soaking rice, add a teaspoon of tur dal gram and fenugreek seeds.

• Defrosting: Defrost frozen foods first in a plate and not on the kitchen counter to avoid bacteria.

• To peel garlic flakes: Wash and soak garlic in cold water for an hour for easy peeling.

• Salt: Add a pinch of corn flour to prevent the salt from damping.

• Flour: To keep the flour free from moisture, add a bay leaf to the flour container.

• Banana and Potatoes: Soak chopped bananas and potatoes in water to avoid discoloration (turns into black).

• Eggs: To easily remove an egg shell, soak it in cold water for 5 minutes. To avoid breaking while cutting the boiled eggs, dip the knife in hot water.

• Bread: In cutting soft bread, hold a knife close to the flame burner flame and slice it.

Cooking
• When boiling eggs, pinch a hole on the rounded side of the egg to avoid breaking the shell.

• When cooking dal, add refined garlic or oil to reduce gas trouble.

• Add 4 cups of water if curd is too sour. Remove the water on top after an hour.

• Before steaming potato, put some vinegar in the boiling water.

• Add a little salt for faster browning of onions.

• Put a pinch of salt when frying fish to avoid it getting stuck on the pan.

• Add 1 teaspoon of rice flour to one cup of amida to make crispy samosas.

• Put a little oil in the batter before frying pakoras to get the desired crispiness.

• Add roasted rice powder to adjust salty curries.

• Add a pinch of sugar when boiling corn or cob. It will bring out the natural sweetness of the corn.

• To make a soft chappathi, add ½ teaspoon of baking soda during dough mixing.

Cleaning
• To keep drains unclogged, mix one gallon of hot water with 1 tablespoon of detergent powder and ½ cup of bleach. Pour the mixture on the sink and let the tap water flow for a few minutes. Clogged sink can be clean in an hour with a mixture of 1 cup hot water, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and a teaspoon of baking soda.

• Clean the turmeric stains with a few drops of lime juice.

• An aluminum foil can be used to avoid spills on cooking range top. Clean the oven spills by sprinkling salt. When cooled down, brush the burnt food with a damp sponge.

• Clean your fridge on a weekly basis. Put some cotton balls with vanilla in the refrigerator to remove odors.

These are some of the many kitchen tips which can help you handle jobs in the kitchen. Following these simple tips will definitely make the most out of your kitchen needs.
