Camping can be a great experience. Being in the great outdoors is an exhilarating experience. Fresh air, nature and the sheer beauty of nature draw millions of people into state parks and campgrounds every year.

Camping enthusiasts everywhere are faced with a myriad of decisions when they plan a camping trip. There are so many different things to take into consideration before leaving on your big trip that it may seem like you will never get on the road.

Among the most important decision is whether to buy a tent or camper. Safe and comfortable tents are very important when you are in the woods or in a campground.

Each one has it’s own set of advantages and making an informed decision is not as easy as it may sound. There are many different shapes, sizes and styles of tents. Big, or small, there is a tent that is perfect for every camping event.

Weather plays a big factor when you are camping, and there are tents that are also specifically created to brave the elements.

If you are camping with your family, having several small tents can create anxiety especially when you have younger children camping with you. A family tent is almost like a portable home; it has many different rooms including separate bedrooms. Another feature that all tents have today are windows that can be shut with Velcro and bug netting.

When it comes to campers, you have an incredible amount of choices. RV’s are a favorite because of the space they provide. It is like a home on wheels. Most RV’s have working kitchens and bathrooms and also have electricity. A drawback to RV’s is that a special license is needed to drive one.

Another factor that you have to take into consideration when making your decision is campgrounds. You can set up a tent in just about any campground, no matter how big it is. However, with an RV, you have to find special parks in order to camp overnight, many requiring a reservation.

For those who want something smaller, pop up campers are excellent choices. They are lightweight and can be towed by any car or truck that has a hitch and work as the name indicates they pop up. Like an RV, a pop up camper offers sleeping quarters, a kitchen and in higher end models, a working bathroom. Pop up campers can sleep four to six people comfortably.

Deciding what type of camping equipment is needed depends on each individual situation. It is important to make this decision in the early planning stages of the camping trip mainly because you will be limited on space and you will have a better understanding of what to pack for your trip

A tent may provide you a view of the stars on a dark night in the woods, however a camper will offer you extra protection by being able to lock the door. A tent may provide a more rustic view of camping however an RV will allow the luxury of sleeping on a soft bed.
