Have you become tired of the same old boring office job, but never thought you had a chance at striving for one of the many pro golf careers out there? Also, face it; you were never good at golf. The couple of times that someone happened to invite you on a golf trip, it was some of the most embarrassing moments of your life. It would still be great to get out of that administrative job, and still, you find that you're interested in the business side of the industry.

Just because you can't play, and many of those in the industry can't, you can pursue other pro golf careers. Golf is a $76 billion per year industry, according to national statistics. There are more than 18,000 golf courses in the United States. Think about how many employees that need to run these facilities. They need all kinds of workers, from maintenance staff to snack shop workers, advertisers, event planners, PR staff, and on-site hotel staff.

It is a competitive business, and even good players are required to have an education before they can pursue their own career. There are several educational facilities that offer a multitude of classes and courses for those interested in pursuing a career. Golf Course Management programs are offered and recommended, however some people choose to attend a resort-based program. Resort programs will teach you how to play golf, but they're not really going to get you into a golf career. There are, however, many opportunities once you get an accredited education, to work at one of these facilities. Be sure to choose a reputable institution that offers a full course load in an array of subjects.

Once you're ready to decide on a career, then its time to sift through the more than 2 million jobs available. It doesn't even have to be directly related to the game itself. Of course, if you want to teach the sport, you need some knowledge in the game, but you can find yourself in a management position, sales, merchandizing, running hotels, to even running the food and beverage operations at a resort.

All of these jobs require education by an accredited institution. There are many places online once you attain this status, where you can search jobs, like on career websites. You can search by state for job postings. Many golf schools will offer job placement opportunities in the golfing industry. Interested parties can also post their resume on their website. Searching on the internet for ways to learn about and even apply for jobs in the golf industry will yield even more results. Options and sites are abundant that offer various features for your education and career paths.

Except for the major high-profile players, most golf jobs won't pay millions of dollars a year. General Managers can make over $54,000, according to PayScale, and a club manager can make close to $40,000. If you're into cooking and golf, however, obtaining a position as an Executive Chef in the industry can get you over $53,000/year.

So, if you are unhappy with your job, no matter what you're current level of education, there are many options. An education and variety of job choices after graduation are important to your future. Don't be fooled into thinking you cannot pursue your dream of working in the golf industry just because you can't play the sport. Whether you are an avid golfer, or an avid spectator, there are many pro golf careers available just for you. Just remember, the most important thing is to find the path you will be happy with from here until retirement.
