What makes lead generation marketing challenging for many companies is that they don't really know the proper places to apply their resources. At times an idea seems feasible, but proves disastrous in the end. Sometimes an idea that seems a bit odd can end up turning a tidy profit. Below are some great ideas for doing lead generation marketing; ideas that have actually been proven to be effective when put in use:

Don't be afraid to offer free presentation, both at your company and at trade shows - Free presentations are a great way to reach your core audience, as well as prove your professionalism within your field of expertise. Also, they help to generate loads of new business by giving interested parties the chance to learn more about you without risk or real expense. As a bonus, if the client is at your facility, it helps to reinforce who you are and your level of professionalism. You will reveal your company as a real and vibrant entity. Let them see first hand who is involved; you may like to take them on a tour to let them put names to faces and associate real people with your company name. This will help you to stay remembered in the long run.

Let others help you - Many companies are able to send your mailings out to massive audiences and track statistics on who is reading what part of your newsletter. They also offer direct contact information for your business as well as thousands of others, helping to establish strong leads in your target market (which they have conveniently already researched for you.) The disadvantage in the short term is cost, but the professionalism they help to reinforce and the contacts generated more than make up for it over time.

Show how they can benefit from short and long term relations with your company - Don’t just call them and ask for their business, ask how to build a partnership for future business as well. Many times you are selling package services that a company does not want to shop for, so take advantage of this when marketing.

Don’t be afraid to advertise in the right places - While television and radio may not be ideal for your business, your local city business journal is a great way to reach nearby businesses who may not be aware of the services you offer. In terms of direct marketing, one well written article on your company there is worth more than 50 TV spots.

Offer to come to them - Meeting people at their workplace is a matter of convenience for the client and it helps you to know who you are selling to, as well as establish a base of needs. This can lead to possible questions about facility needs and staffing that you couldn’t ask before, and it allows them to feel less pressured by being on their home turf.

Remember to do your homework, and choose the suggested ideas that work best for your own lead generation marketing campaigns. Always build upon what does work, eliminating programs which fail to show progress in time.
