At the east, there is a chain of mountains in the city. The highest of all is Olivia Mount, counting with more than 1000 meters of height. The Susana Mount and Cinco Hermanos Mount are other interesting places for trekking and excursions.

The city has a cosmopolitan population, because of the descendents of the immigrants that arrived to Ushuaia searching best opportunities of living and where charmed by the beauty of this unique place.

Maybe the best attractive of Ushuaia is its wonderful nature and landscapes, mixed with forests and glaciers. One of these amazing places is Tierra del Fuego National Park, with Fagnano and Escondido Lake, the beautiful Lapataia bay and Roca Lake.

Other attractive of Ushuaia is the Tren del Fin del Mundo, a train full of history, who was built by the prisoners of the Austral Jail of Argentina with native elements like woods and stone. At the beginning of XX century, they also developed workshops like photography, bakery, shoemaker and a medical service, helping the establishment of the community in these faraway lands.

From Ushuaia, the visitors can also discover the amazing Antarctic Continent and the wonderful South Atlantic Islands like King George and South Shetland Islands. There are navigation through patagonian channels, getting to places like El Calafate, Bariloche and the Chilean Torres del Paine National Park.

The city has also many museums with the history of the natives and colonizers who were the first inhabitants of this land. Typical houses of old families of the town, public libraries, churches and the famous port of Ushuaia, the second important port of the country, which receives charges and passengers to the city.

From the port are the departure of boats to Beagle channel, to discover De los Pájaros Island, De los Lobos Island and Les Eclaireus lighthouse. Other excursions goes farther and gets to Martillo Island, where is a penguin colony.

Other attraction of Ushuaia is Martial Glacier, part of the Martial Chain of glaciers that can be observed from any point of the city. The visitors can access to it in skilifts from the closer ski runs, like Francisco Jerman and others.

The main ski center of the zone is Castor Mountain, with more than 400 hectares for ski and snowboard and 17 ski runs for all levels of skiers, to enjoy the excellent quality of snow in the slopes of this mount.
