There are many online sites that make petition writing and the collection of signatures much easier than it was in the past. By creating an online petition, you have access to supporters of your cause all over the world. These people simply go to the link you indicate for the petition and type in their name and email address.

The site will verify that this is a valid email address to ensure that the petition signatures (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/browse-petitions) you collect are valid for the petition. If there are several persons in a household who do wish to sign their names, each one of them will need to have an email address because most online petitions will only accept one signature per email address.

If you have an issue that is important to you, whether it concerns laws, actions by a person or group of people, or something that affects the environment, you have the right as a citizen to make your concerns known.

One of the most effective ways of doing this is by petitioning those in authority asking for changes and improvements. In order for your petition to be successful it has to be noticed. Before you actually start to write the words, you have to know you are going to make the petition work.

The first thing you have to do is determine the best person to whom you can send the petition. This person’s name and address has to be included in the header of the petition. Who is going to present this petition – you or someone else? If you want to address the government, you will have to present the petition to a person who is in a position to present it to a person or group in a formal setting.

This is usually a politician and you need to make sure that this person is in agreement with presenting it on your behalf. Other ways of presenting a petition include sending it by mail to the correct authoritative figure or by email when you make a petition online.

In order to make petition writing (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/create-online-petition) easier, you need to have the opening statements in the header brief, yet clear and concise. These statements have to address the issue directly and state the current situation.

This alone will not get your petition noticed because an important part of the petitioning process is that you must be able to suggest changes that will improve the situation and explain how these changes will help. In some cases, you may need to show proof of how such changes work and this means doing research on the issue to find ways in which they have worked in other areas.

Proofread the petition to correct any mistakes. All the pages should contain the same header and the pages should be numbered. The lines containing the signatures should also be numbered making it very easy to have a total count.

To make petition writing easy, there are many sample petitions online that you can read to get an idea of how you should proceed in writing the petition.

Many of these may be for frivolous ideas, but there are many serious topics addressed and this may even get you thinking about issues of concern that have gone unnoticed or of which you though there was nothing you could do. Use the examples to help you write the best petition possible and this will show those in authority that you are serious about the cause.
