Berlin, the capital of Germany, is a city rich in culture and history. It is brimming with museums, galleries, sights, attractions and more!

Berlin’s also a great destination for holiday rentals, as there is a good range of self catering accommodation in this German city, particularly apartment rentals. Whatever your taste and budget, you should be able to find your ideal property rental in Berlin.

Whether you’re planning a weekend city break or a longer vacation, Berlin is a perfect location to spend an enjoyable holiday in Germany.

There is so much to see and do in Berlin. During your stay, you could visit Checkpoint Charlie (which was once the border crossing point between East and West Berlin and there is an interesting museum here), the East Side Gallery (there is still part of the famous Berlin Wall left which you can see today and it is adorned with work from artists) and the famous Brandenberg Gate.

There’s also the New National Gallery, German Historical Museum, Berlin Museum of Natural History, the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum, Berlin Zoo, the Reichstag Building, Charlottenburg Palace and more!

Museum Island is also well worth a visit. The island, which is in the River Spree, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and boasts five museum buildings, including the Old Museum, the New Museum, the Old National Gallery, Pergamon Museum and Bode Museum. Also on the island is Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom).

One great way of taking in the sights of the city is by taking a tour. You can take a tour by bus, boat, on foot or by bike. Cycling gives you the opportunity to take in the sights while keeping fit! What’s more, the city has cycle paths, so you don’t have to worry about the traffic. You can even join a guided bike tour if you fancy!

If you want to do something other than sightseeing, Berlin has much more to see and do. There’s plenty going on, with a great range of entertainment to suit a variety of tastes, such as theatre, music and cinema.

Berlin is also a good place to enjoy a night out. There are many restaurants, taverns, bars and clubs that you can check out during your stay in Berlin.

While you are on your self catering holiday, be sure to eat out at a local restaurant. There is a superb range of restaurants to choose from here, offering a wide selection of food. Why not sample some of the local cuisine here? For example, there’s Boulette (friend meatballs) or Currywurst (sausage with tomato sauce and curry powder) and you can wash it all down with a Berliner Weisse (beer)!

During your stay in Berlin, you might also want to check out its shops. This German city has shopping centres, department stores, markets etc that are worth going to during your vacation.

But if shopping’s not your thing, you can always play a sport or take part in an activity in and around Berlin. You can have a game of golf or tennis, go running, swimming, cycling, skateboarding or you can even try your hand at inline skating.

But whatever you decide to do during your holiday here, it’s a great destination to spend a vacation, whether you’re planning a short break or a longer relaxing trip, you will have fun in the city of Berlin.
