Kansas has a way back history dating from 12,000 BC when the native Americans first got here. They were later forced to evacuate the land by the white migrants who came from the East in search for gold, land for farming and other business opportunities.

After the civil war, the construction of railroads and trails commenced, which increased the development of Kansas State with lots of towns coming up.

By 1870 Kansas State was established as the big Cattle State in the US feeding beef to millions.

In 1874, Turkey Red Winter Wheat was imported from Russia and grown in Kansas, and now today Kansas is one of the leading wheat producing states in the country.

In the 20th century, Kansas developed from cattle and wheat production to mining, meatpacking, oil production and much more which has made Kansas a prosperous region.

Lake Scott State Park is a clearly a diamond in the rough, and may yet be polished. It has 100 acres of lake and 1180 acres of park and wildlife areas, but the whole area is totally amazing with its natural wonders, artesian springs, deep wooded canyons and so many other things.

It offers majestic delight to all of its visitors, in their outdoor recreation. The park is like a heavenly paradise for campers, hikers and anglers.

Fort Scott National Historic Site exhibits US history and depicts the period when the masses were expanding westwards and civil unrest and the civil war later followed them.

The architecture in Kansas can often be French colonial and with Greek revival elements thrown in. The building had to be reconstructed to take it back to its 1840 style look.

One of the best tourist attractions in the state of Kansas is Sedgewick County Zoo, opened in 1971 on 247 acres.

It amasses thousands of animals of different varieties and is ranked as one of the best zoos in the nation.

Fort Larned National Historic Site was originally built in 1859. It was a base for the military against hostile local Indians in the central plains.

It was set up to help the traffic along the Santa Fe Trail and was the quarters from where the administration used to function and be enforced.

It takes you back to the most turbulent times of the US and all the offices and buildings are shown as per their original structure.

Special events are organized every summer making Lovewell State Park a park that should be well liked. Just at the entrance you pick a guide or you can explore the excellent park all by yourselves.

At the Nicodemus National Historic Site, the western style established village built by African-Americans during the restoration period following the civil war. It is a tribute to those who stayed back and gave all possible help to the development of the state.

Topeka Zoological Park is basically a children’s zoo that also gets you close to new Black Bear Woods.

Lake Afton Public Observatory presents programs every weekend evenings and educational institutions can book in advance for any day of the week. It provides educational observatory on instructional astronomy games, video tapes and astronomy activities that are used in the classroom.
