When we are just starting out in any endeavor, things can be a little more uncomfortable than we would prefer. We're a bit like hatchlings: wobbly, alone, uncertain, and blinking at the world around us. As adults, with our filters of the way things should or should not be for us, learning the ropes of something new can some times take us out of the game completely. We set ourselves up for failure when, in fact, everything is right on track. Building your network or direct marketing business requires learning and growing in ways that you may not have expected when you first joined your company. This can be truly frightening for some people.

Things don't have to be perfect. Six steps forward and five back still means you've taken that crucial step forward. As a friend reminded me recently, we are mortal, and being mortal means having doubts, questions, and fears. We all have the same basic needs and fears, yet so many of us tend to forget that fact. And in today's society very few people take the time to strike up a conversation with someone they don't know. I do, however, and my husband insists that I've never met a stranger. In my world, strangers are generally just friends I haven't met yet.

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit. ~Albert Schweitzer

Coming from a place of empathy and sharing rather than focusing on another's differences from comparative stance is key in connecting with those around you who may be quite interested in the product your network marketing company provides. Just share. And please don't let your perceptions of how another may or may not respond disqualify a prospect. I'm proud to note that there are people in my downline that others had disqualified before even taking the time to introduce them to the product. These people, people that others had dismissed as viable prospects, are busy, productive and doing very well. I am grateful and blessed to have them as part of my team.

We have to remember that people are brought into our lives everyday for a variety of reasons. I wear a locket around my neck from Egypt that represents the unity between each and every one of us. We are all very much connected, so please remember, what you send out to the world comes back to you.

A simple act of kindness can profoundly affect another person, sometimes for years. It only takes a moment to notice something good about a person and share that with them. And in doing so, you, too, may find that you don't know any strangers.
