Learning a new language, as an adult, always seems to be a tough sell. We are told that children can learn a new language better because their own grammar and pronunciations are still developing and they don’t have anything blocking their learning or their consumption of knowledge. While that may be true adults have mastered the art of retention such as telephone numbers, birth dates, people’s names ect. Rosetta Stone focuses on your retention levels to help you learn a new language, no matter how old you are, its never to late to learn a new language.

Rosetta Stone, which refers to a stone found in the Egyptian city of Rosetta was used to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphs. Rosetta Stone is a learning language software; it is based on giving you the words most commonly used for communication. Many of the words offered are universal just like the ones you use in everyday conversation. There are business languages that are offered as well. The main focus of learning a new language is to immerse yourself in it, consider your native tongue, you speak it daily and hear it as much, Rosetta Stone uses this approach to give you option of only hearing what you need to learn.

Many people who don’t have time to take a college course or have taken one and just want to refresh will find Rosetta Stone to be a helpful tool. Although the college classroom is the best setting because a qualified instructor is present to help you with pronunciation and grammar and students are often partnered up to help with conversational aspects. Rosetta Stone is designed to give you the same base to start with and it’s your choice of pace that determines how fast and how much you learn. Rosetta Stone will not replace a college setting because it’s not based on a time table or semester mark.

There are three levels of learning a language with Rosetta Stone; it depends on how many hours are listed and how much you need to practice each day to meet a desired goal. There are vocabulary words that give you a standard base to learn from, Rosetta Stone does not teach you how to write a foreign language, just how to speak it and understand what you are saying. Many people who purchase the program also look for supplements to help them continue or to give them other inlets to learning about their new chosen language.

Those who have purchased Rosetta Stone like the feature of voice recognition software; if you are pronouncing it correctly then it will move to the next word. There is a speaking and listening section that is always helpful if you are not sure about your skill level. The best advice is to be diligent and learn something new everyday, languages are challenging and if you keep at it you’ll find yourself at a level 3 in no time. If you have the devotion you can learn another language. Families are beginning to see the importance of learning together, parents can see their children pick up a language must faster but its adults who retain that information longer. If you are planning a trip overseas and want the whole family to attend consider learning a new language together.
