Having storage while riding your motorcycle can be quite useful, especially on long adventures. There are many different saddlebags available now a day, but knowing what one to purchase can be difficult, especially if you’ve never done it before. Ensure you are able to put out the time and effort when you begin your shopping experience for a saddlebag.

To make your shopping experience easier go through the following tips to make things less confusing and stressful.

Tip #1:

Look at how the saddlebag will mount on your motorcycle. This is a major thing and first thing that you should look at when purchasing a saddlebag. When it comes to throw over saddlebags they are equipped with a string that is placed under the seat and shocks, but with a bolt on bag they are actually bolted onto the motorcycle. For someone needing a saddlebag that can be removed easily then a throw over bag may be the best option, but for those that don’t need one that is removable consider a bolt on saddlebag.

Tip #2:

One thing that is a major necessity of any saddlebag is a lock. You want to be aware that the saddlebag has security and by having a lock this assists with keeping your things safe.

When you have your saddlebag full of items that you don’t want to loose knowing that you can safely leave them in your saddlebag while you are not around your motorcycle does much better then continuously have to remove them. With the use of a lock on your motorcycle’s saddlebag you can avoid this, so check to see if the saddlebag has a lock on it before purchasing.

Tip #3:

Many saddlebags are designed to have buckles. Examine the buckles on the saddlebag to determine if they have quick and easy access because you don’t want to be struggling with buckles at any time, especially while driving your motorcycle. Accessibility is key and if its complicated the saddlebag will just become a frustration than enjoyable.

Tip #4:

Make sure that your saddlebag doesn’t sag too easily. With saddlebags having the ability to sag over time you may want to consider purchasing one that has a metal frame to assist in preventing sag. Saddlebags that don’t have a metal frame do not cost as much, but in the end you’ll be saving yourself money if you purchase one with a metal frame. Get your monies worth by buying a saddlebag that will outlast the lifespan of your motorcycle.

Tip #5:

A large amount of saddlebags have the use of stainless metal for decorative aspects of the bag, but it is now also used in the creation. By having a saddlebag with stainless steel over brass to prevent rusting from occurring. Rust can eventually deteriorate the saddlebag so spend the extra for stainless steel to make the saddlebag last longer.

Don’t spend days on end trying to find the perfect saddlebag for your motorcycle. By going prepared you can cut the amount of time you spend looking for that saddlebag that is just right.
