Back in 1928 the motorcycle jacket was designed being double sided Perfecto which was then being manufactured by the company Schott NYC. As the years progressed this style went through many improvements, but still kept some of the traditional aspects of the original motorcycle jacket.

With the motorcycle jacket becoming quite popular in the year of 1958 from the actor Marlon Brando styling his motorcycle jacket on film, “The Wild Ones”, and then having many appearances in various James Dean films the motorcycle jacket became very popular. Many people put the motorcycle jacket on the people known to get into trouble. If you look back on the films and the roles the actors played wearing the motorcycle jacket you'll quickly notice a trend of rebels and criminals that wore this stylish piece.

Every year new fashion trends begin and end, but it seems that the motorcycle jacket has never gone out of style for the biker scene. With this fashion piece not only being good looking, it is actually quite practical for motorcyclists.

With the material that is used in creating a motorcycle jacket known as leather, it has become one of the best jackets created for motorcyclists has it gives astounding protection from all the elements of the road. When a motorcyclist wears a leather jacket they will have an extra layer of skin protecting them if an accident occurs while driving, instead of it being their own skin that hits the ground first, it will be the leather motorcycle jacket that does.

A motorcycle jacket has many of the necessary needs that any motorcyclist needs, including tons of storage, air vents, sleeve cuffs, and much more that add to the comfort and expandability of the jacket. Over the years more new inventive ideas have been in play to make it even easier for a motorcyclist to be able to take everything they need on their ride.

When you look at the modern day motorcycle jacket it has gone through various designs. Some have longer arm lengths for riders that lean forward, and extra length on the back of the jacket to keep their entire upper body covered. Now even many motorcycle jackets have been designed to have an insulated zip lining for extra warmth in the colder months, making the jacket great for all year long.

To prevent your motorcycle jacket from flapping around most of the jackets are designed with a belt on them that can be tightened and loosened for the best comfort yet keep things all snug to your body. Just about all of these belts can be removed if the rider opt's in to not wearing it, but this can be a great addition to keep your motorcycle jacket in place and the cold air out from underneath the jacket.

As the years have gone on the motorcycle jacket has stuck around with everyone. It hasn't mattered if you drove a motorcycle, or if you just liked the style. With the durability of the motorcycle jacket, and the comfort it has become a true necessity for most motorcyclists.
