Wool does not only add warmth and comfort in the home not to mention that it certainly feels good on the feet it is also very easy to maintain.

Wool has a way of keeping the soil on the topmost surface of the carpet. The cuticle, or the outer layer of the fiber, contains overlapping scales, which pushes the soil up. It also has high resistant against moisture. In fact, it can absorb it as long as it is in vapor form.

However, it does not really mean that wool carpets do not deserve to be treated well by their owners. Keep dust off them as much as possible.

The very first thing you need to do is to keep dust, dirt, and grime away from the wool carpet as much as possible. One of the best ways to do it is to add floor mats at the entryways. You can choose the rubberized ones. If you are using the wool carpet in your home, you should encourage your friends and family to take off their shoes or slippers even before they go in to your house.

Clean the wool carpet regularly.

You do not have to wait for the heavy soil to be very visible before you can think of grabbing the vacuum cleaner. Make it a habit to clean the wool carpet with the equipment at least once every day more frequently when the wool carpet is stepped on a lot of times daily. You can select the one with microfilters, so you can prevent even the microorganisms from going out of the vacuum cleaner and getting inhaled by people including you. It may lead to asthma.

Tap not rub.

When you get to accidentally spill something on the wool carpet, the first instinct is to get anything your hands can grab and rub it into the pile. This is completely wrong, as it may only destroy the physical properties of the fiber and may cause damage into the color of the wool carpet. The best option is to get an absorbent cloth and gently tap it into the spill.

Clean up immediately.

When you happen to drop something into the wool carpet that causes stain to it, make sure that you can clean up the mess immediately. You do not want it to harden, making it a lot more difficult to remove using simple strategies such as the use of tissue paper or kitchen towel.
