When you are planning on installing carpets for your home or your office, the choices may seem rather endless. This is due to the many carpet styles you can choose from plus add to that the number of carpet fibers used for these things and the number of colors and designs that abound. This makes for a rather difficult choice to make and to help you understand the choices you have to decide upon, let us try and define what these carpet styles are.

Different Carpet Styles

There are a number of styles you can choose from when you want to buy a carpet for your abode or your place of business, here are some of the more popular:

Berber – The cut pile of this carpet has a level loop and for added durability, almost always uses thicker yarn in its making. This kind of a carpet is ideal for a lot of places since it will not show vacuum tracks or even footprints in it. This is usually used in a lot of informal areas like living rooms, waiting rooms and the like.

Level Loop – Another ideal carpet type for places that usually see many feet walking through it, the level loop carpet is made with tufts of yarn that have similar height. These are of looped threads and can withstand a lot of usage which makes it ideal for offices, stores and common areas of your house like the dining room and living room areas.

Multi-Level Loop – Unlike the level loop which has even tufts of yarn as its main feature, this carpet type has tufts that come in varied heights, giving the carpet a unique yet still attractive appearance and texture. Also suitable for rooms that are busy like your living room, waiting room, dining room and other similar areas.

Random Shear – Another textured carpet type that has a unique appeal us the random shear which features both uncut and cut tips that gives it its rather versatile appearance and feel. This kind of a carpet which can also be called a tip shear carpet, can be used for both informal designs and formal designs.

Cut Loop – This is another kind of carpet that has a similar appeal and appearance as the Random Shear but is more suitable for informal spaces, unlike its similar counterpart that can be used for any space.

Saxony – This kind of a carpet is easily distinguished by its level cut piles which are usually a half inch in height or even less. This kind of carpet has a tendency to shed, although is one of the favorite carpet types for use in formal areas or rooms like conference rooms, bedrooms and such.

Plush or Velvet – This kind of a carpet can be only described as elegant, smooth and almost flawless in its appearance and construction. What gives it its almost perfect appeal for use in luxurious places like expensive hotel rooms and the offices of the big bosses of companies is the use of fibers that have no twists in them.
