‘Blue waters of the lake kissing the sky’, this is the metaphor for American Indian who set their turquoises in silver. This is how they wore their turquoise jewelry. Today turquoise jewelry made by these Indians is still available for men. Yes that’s right. Turquoise jewelry for men is also available thought it is worn for more specific purposes than just beautification. And the best part about it is that it never goes out of style.

Turquoise jewelry for men as a fashion accessory
Although very few men probably wear turquoise jewelry as a fashion accessory, it serves this purpose brilliantly as well. It goes well with most colors and hence can be worn on almost anything, olive greens, blues, browns etc. Wearing the stone on a black shirt symbolizes the urban shaman – the man who is guided by his spirits. Turquoise jewelry can also enhance sky blue eyes.

Turquoise jewelry for well being
Turquoise jewelry has been worn as part of a man’s attire for centuries and all of it for his well being. Different myths spring up from different parts of the world. In Egypt men wore it to ward off a violent death. In Persia, the stone was thought to protect and ward of evil. Turquoise was also seen as a stone that brought tremendous wealth to the wearer. It is because of all of these factors that turquoise jewelry and adornments was a common thing for a man to possess.

Modern day myths
The myth with regards to the turquoise stone is not very different today than they were centuries ago. Turquoise jewelry is continued to be made for men and they wear it religiously especially for protection. In Europe and America, they are worn to keep people from falling off their horses. The bright blue of the stone is said to prevent accidents from flying and therefore a lot of people in the aviation industry wear a piece of turquoise jewelry on them while flying. Newer thoughts believe that wearing a piece of turquoise jewelry removes blocks that prevent prosperity, cures depression and connects one to his higher being. It also helps in bringing in loyalty in partnerships and wards of negative emotions such as jealousy etc.

Buying turquoise jewelry for a man
If you do set out to buy man turquoise jewelry then make sure that it is set in a way that the stone is protected. Turquoise is a soft stone and because of this it is prone to damage especially if it suffers a hard impact. Because of this fragile nature the stone is most often sold as beads as it cannot be cut. Most turquoise jewelry for men is also sealed in wax or resin; this is to prevent the color from fading and also to make the stone sturdier. Sometimes the stones are dyed before being treated with the resin to enhance the color. You need to be careful not to pick up these stones.
