Bariloche, The Land of Tourism in Argentina

Bariloche is one of the most beautiful zones in Argentinean Patagonia. This wonderful town was named by the Indian word vuriloche, meaning people from the other side of the mountain and by Carlos, in honor to the famous german settler Carlos Wiederhold, who was the owner an important store in the city in the beginning of XX century.

This wonderful place is located in Rio Negro province and inside the National Park Nahuel Huapi at the shores of the lake with the same name.

Bariloche is known as the capital of tourism in Argentina because of its amazing landscapes, which mixes the adventure of the mountains with the calm of the pure nature. In the coast of the city, visitors can practice nautical activities like rafting, kayak and sailing; and in the hills of the zone, do outdoor activities like trekking, hiking, climbing, paragliding, among many others.

Other important lakes of the zone are Moreno Lake and Gutierrez Lake, places where the visitors can practice fishing and fly fishing. Some of the species that can be found are rainbow trout, brown trout, river trout, silverside and croaker.

Bariloche offers some typical trips that the visitors have to take during their trip to this city. One of them is the Small Circuit, which is a journey through the Nahuel Huapi Lake and Perito Moreno Lake, for discover places like beautiful Bonita beach, Llao LLao peninsule, Puerto Pañuelo and Campanario Hill, where the passengers can take horseback riding excursions to the summit and observe the amazing view of the landscape.

Another famous excursion is the Andean Crossing that leads the visitor through the frontier of Chile and Argentina, crossing the coasts of Bariloche. This crossing starts on Puerto Blest and some of its destinations are Puerto Pañuelo, Frías Lake, Campanario Hill, Cathedral Hill, among others, enjoying of charming landscapes. The circuit ends in Llanquihue Lake, in Chile.

The visitors can also enjoy of the beautiful beaches of Nahuel Huapi Lake like Bonita and Serena, with cold waters. In Bonita Beach you can also rent canoes and kayak boats and also practice scuba diving and windsurfing.

In the Nahuel Huapi Lake there are also many islands that are the perfect place to enjoy directly of nature. Some of them are Victoria Island, the bigger of the lake, Huemul Island, Centinela Island and Gallina Island, where you can practice scuba diving.

Another incredible zone to visit is Arrayanes National Park, which counts with 800 meters of footbridges where the visitors can appreciate these beautiful trees of smooth trunks and high foliage, of more than 200 years of old.
Bariloche is also a famous zone by its ski resorts. Cathedral Mountain is the most modern of them in Argentina and it is located at just 19 kilometers away from the center. Between its attractions the resort has 50 ski trails for every level, 600 skiable hectares and the best snow to practice ski, snowboard, sleigh, mountaineering and trekking.

Cerro Otto is other ski resort in Bariloche, where the visitors can practice nordic ski or take a skilift for observe an air view of the zone and its beautiful landscapes.

The Tronador Hill, an extinguished volcano located in the frontier between Chile and Argentina, is other impressive destination to discover during the trip to Bariloche. It has ten amazing glaciers like Ventisquero Negro glacier, named by like this for its dark colors product of the ice mixed with sediments and rocks. The visitors can climb to the glaciers and the summit of the mountain in excursions with expert guides.
