Making an ex jealous is an idea many men have had to try to win their ladies back again after a parting of the ways. To some it is a way of trying to punish their ex for walking away; to others it is a way of trying to show their ex, what it is they are now missing.

This is a dangerous strategy to employ. In some cases it can work, but it is all too easy to backfire. What if you ex thinks you really are together with your "new found love"? It will only firm up her resolution to stay apart and start anew elsewhere.

In order for jealousy to work in winning your ex back, she must still have some feelings for you that you can try to exploit. If those feelings have already gone, then any feelings of jealousy that are aroused will simply anger her and firm her resolve to be rid of you.

If however she does still bear feelings for you, then there is a chance that this strategy can have the right result. However, it is really important that the new partner doesn’t look too authentic, or that you appear smitten with her. Far better to play the nonchalant "couldn’t care less" approach, "see what you’re missing". In this way, your ex won’t feel totally betrayed but she may be led to think that you are obviously still attractive and she may need to rethink.

Why did you split up in the first place?

This is a question you must ask yourself before playing the jealousy card. If you split because she was playing the field, this could definitely work. If however your problems were caused more through your lack of attention, time or care, then it is more likely to exacerbate the situation.

There is always the risk that what is good for the Goose is also good for the Gander. In other words, if your ex hasn’t got another partner in tow, your show of togetherness with someone else, could push her into retaliation mode. And you could end up being the one feeling jealous.

Tips for making the Jealousy approach work

Choose the right candidate partner. You don’t want the town "bike". It will surely only enrage your ex.

You need to keep the communication lines open with your ex. A closed door approach may only reinforce the apparent reality that you have indeed found someone else.

It’s always a good idea to consider your new partners feelings, especially if you intend to dump her, if and when your strategy works. Let her know for example that you have just ended a relationship and that you want to take things slowly. She will appreciate your honesty and anyway, it would only madden you ex to see you all over somebody else like a rash.

Always bear in mind the risks of the jealousy strategy. Consider your plans very carefully before employing them. Don’t make it appear too realistic, and, choose your intended partner carefully, playing as fair with them as you can.

If you get it right, and it works, you reap the reward, but, remember, this is a dangerous game to play, and don’t start the ball rolling if you are not prepared for the possibility of your strategy backfiring.
