As the holidays descend on us, each day seemingly shorter than the one before, it can be a wonder we manage to accomplish any of the myriad tasks before us. Between the shopping, visiting friends and family, and the household decorations, time and space both seem to be in short supply this time of year. While not much can be done to make the day longer, the issue of space has a helpful solution in the storage unit.

The storage unit itself might not seem like a particularly festive place. No one sings songs about storage units, and decorating a storage unit door just seems silly, but the holiday season actually plays to the advantages of the storage unit – they are affordable, safe, and secure places to store things for either short of long periods of time.

Take holiday decorations for example. Whatever your personal decorating style, be it a few cherished pieces or a display of carefully orchestrated lights, robotic Santas, and music likely to be observed from space, all holiday decorations have a few things in common. That is, holiday decorations are seasonal at best. While they are loved and cherished, bound to memories, and often passed down from generation to generation, these decorations spend the majority of each year packed away. Keeping these items at home means that space is sacrificed. Storage conditions in an attic or a basement can be less than ideal because of temperature and moisture, leaving those cherished decorations brittle or moldy when their dug out at the start of each holiday season. In that respect, a storage unit is a perfect example of a Storage Elf.

Of course, storage units are great for things other than just safely housing your holiday decorations. They also help to preserve the carefully crafted surprise of Christmas morning. How so? Think of your storage unit as a Security Elf, black sunglasses and clip board included. With all of the decorations removed from your storage unit, there's that extra room in there to keep your gifts. With all those goodies safely stashed behind a padlocked door, there is little to no way for snooping children or significant others to find said gifts. With many storage units open around the clock, and making use of automated, secure, entry systems, retrieving gifts at just the right time is a cinch, allowing you to play Santa with true efficiency.

And let's not forget about friends and family coming to town. The house is going to be just a bit more crowded with extra people, but still needs to look presentable for parties. A rearranging of furniture is in order, but doing that can only make so much room. Sometimes, you just need to get a few tables or chairs completely out of the way. Or to bring in a couple of cots that you keep for just such an occasion. Again, this is an opportunity for the storage unit to play storage elf to your hosting Santa, and everyone ends up that much more comfortable.

Though they can be seen as simply a background player, storage units provide something that's too often in short supply - space. They're safe, they're convenient, and they're easy. And during the holiday's, that's a combination of factors that can make life just a bit easier.
