The therapeutic effects of massages will usually leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. If it is done properly, your body will be relaxed and soothed by the gentle manipulation of muscles and tissues. The muscle spasms and back pains will be gone. You will feel as if you were reborn and you have a new body! But if the massage was less than perfect, then the effects will probably be reversed. The muscle spasms will still be there and you will continue suffering from your neck and back pains.

This is the reason why technique is very significant in using massage stones for massage therapies. Although incorporating small variations or even alternating steps can only be a trivial action, it can still have a major effect on the outcome of the whole procedure. Before moving on to more complex techniques it is also advised to be skillful in the fundamentals of a stone massage therapy. Once you’ve mastered these then you are now ready to move on to certain techniques that can improve the service you offer. Here are some ways you can incorporate on your massage:

Preparation is very significant in any treatment procedure. Having the right equipment and being knowledgeable in your field can help you be a more effective massage therapist. In heating the stones, put enough water inside the heating equipment to ensure that the stones will be completely below the water level. The temperature is set in a 120-150 degree Fahrenheit. Make sure the temperature is maintained in this temperature before the actual session. Safety should also be a primary concern in handling the heated stones. Read the instruction manual carefully and use necessary equipment to avoid burns from the heated stones. Be sure that these stones are in a comfortable temperature before placing them on the client’s skin.

Make sure to clean and dry the stones used in every therapy. In the actual procedure of placing the stones on the client’s skin, guarantee that the temperature is ideal for the client’s skin. If it is too hot, make the necessary adjustments. You should also never place heated stones directly on the person’s bony areas to avoid bruising.

There is another option of using massage stones on the body. One popular way is the La Stone massage therapy wherein the use of alternating hot and cold stones is utilized. The warm stones will increase the oxygen supply of the body thus improving the blood circulation. On the other hand, the cold stones will help remove congestion and prevent blockages.

After mastering all the basic steps in stone massage therapy, it is time to move on to more advanced techniques. You can use trigger points or deeper tissue methods. You can also add a few more steps by researching through books and the internet. This will surely provide you with more information and better service for your clientele.

It is important for any field to have further learning and improvement in skills. Explore other ways and techniques to add variety in your massaging routine. It will be much better to challenge yourself so that you and your client will experience a better massage therapy.
