It’s Christmas time once again, one of the best times of the year. A time just to be with the family, time for reunion with friends and relatives, and most of all, time for bonuses and other incentives for all the hard work we toiled for the year.

But after receiving your salaries and bonuses, who gets paid? When you go to the mall and shop, you paid the mall owners; when you travel to a distant place and have a vacation, you paid the airline company and the resort owner. How about you? Did you already pay yourself for your hard work? Well, you should, and you should pay yourself first; you deserve it for a job well done!

How then do you pay yourself? When you pay yourself, you should pay all three aspects of yourself: Mind, Body, and Soul. Pay your mind aspect by investing in self improvement programs that will help change your mental attitude to a success mentality. If you want to get rich, then you must first understand the science of getting rich; to obtain this, you may invest in enrolling yourself to the science of getting rich program. If you want to be promoted in your job, then invest in obtaining a masteral degree or attend seminars and short courses in line with your profession and work. Another best way to invest in your mind aspect is to acquire new skills by attending classes regarding that skill; skills that are in demand in the market right now, and skills in setting up a successful business. Having a new skill also prepare you in case of sudden lay—off in your company. It’s always better to be prepared. When you are prepared, then you will have confidence to face your future, no matter what circumstances may happen, as long as you are fully equipped in knowledge, skills and the right mindset and attitude, you will always prevail.

Pay yourself first by investing in your physical aspect: health. Invest in your health insurance to take care of your medical expenses. Go to your physician, take your annual physical examination, have yourself prescribed the right vitamins for you, and take your medicines religiously. If your car needs regular maintenance like a quarterly or semi—annual engine tune up and change oil, how much more your body, your body also needs those annual physical exam and regular vitamins and medicines if needed.

Pay yourself first by investing time to enrich your spiritual aspect. Christmas is just the right time to start enhancing our spiritual relationship with God. Although, not just on Christmas, but all throughout the year, everyday in our life. You don’t have to pay anything, just your time. So don’t forget to invest some time everyday in prayers.

By paying yourself first, you are more confident to face another year and every new year in your life; you will become a better person; your life will become happier; and you will be more successful. For me, when I started to pay myself first, my life tremendously changed for the best.
