The much-anticipated Darnell Martin film Cadillac Records debuted on the big screen last week, and the incredible movie has garnered nothing but success as stars Adrien Brody, Jeffrey Wright, Mos Def and Beyonce Knowles start reaping the benefits of their smooth voices and acting talents. Cadillac Records chronicles the historic rise and fall of Chess Records in the 1950s in Chicago, and the standout actress in the film is Beyonce, who plays the famous early R&B/soul crooner Etta James. As Cadillac Records outlines the sex, drugs, race and rock ‘n’ roll of the ‘50s, the film also follows the incredible careers of James, Muddy Waters (played by Jeffrey Wright), Leonard Chess (played by Adrien Brody), Chuck Berry (Mos Def) and Little Walter (Columbus Short).

Written and directed by Darnell Martin, Cadillac Records was also produced by Beyonce and Marc Levin, showing Beyonce’s incredible all-around talents and efforts in the entertainment industry. The 2002 film Austin Powers in Goldmember kick-started Beyonce’s film career as she starred as the luscious Foxxy Cleopatra, and the incredible entertainer hasn’t looked back since.

Beyonce released her full-length solo debut in 2003 with Dangerously in Love, a multi-platinum selling album that won the singer five Grammy Awards and featured hip-hop heavyweights Sean Paul, Missy Elliott and Jay-Z. Amid a stellar music career, Beyonce continued onward with her burgeoning acting career, scoring big in 2006’s Dreamgirls.
