Shred the Pounds With the Right Fat Burning Foods

When you're putting your own fitness plan together covering a great workout program and diet, knowing what are fat burning foods and what aren't, is key. Of course you know to stay away from sugars, white bread, focus on lean protein and "good carbs", but are there actually foods out there that are fat burning foods? The answer is most definitely.

It's important to at least maintain some variety when you're integrating these into your diet. This will keep your interest and not let you just get bored and throw in the towel. The first obvious is egg whites, not including the yoke. Bodybuilders and performance dieters will form entire meals centered around just egg whites. This is a true way to starve the fat in your body while only feeding the muscle, making it a fat burning food for sure.

Nobody likes to feel like they're being deprived of sweets, and the search for fat burning foods often adds that extra psychological burden. Sweet potatoes, (or yams, depending on your part of the country if you're in the US) could be the answer. The sweetness tends to keep the appetite at bay, plus it's low on calories, much lower than its cousin, the regular potato. This is one of the better fat burning foods if you're willing to eat it plain. Apples are a close third because of the heavy fiber in the skin; that keeps down the appetite, but you want to watch the sugar intake, even if it's natural sugar.

To wrap up this short but certainly effective list of fat burning foods, make sure you include oatmeal and anything whole grain. There's this mass-market misconception out there that rice is a great choice to cut down on fat, usually related to stereotypes of Asian cooking styles. The truth is, white rice is more like the white bread equivalent. Brown rice could be considered the rice's whole wheat bread equivalent when you're looking for fat burning foods, but the problem is it's extremely difficult to enjoy. It's virtually flavorless, and takes substantial effort to chew and get down. This is why oatmeal is a heavily used option. It's protein to carb. ratio is highly balanced, it's easier to take in (and many would say more enjoyable), and it still gives you the same appetite satisfying effect without the fat, that brown rice would. Quinoa is a rice-like substance that you can find in many upscale organic-style grocery stores.

Whole grain is a good choice for fat burning foods because it unravels so quickly at the molecular level. White bread and doughy foods stay in pretty much clay-form all the way through your body, plus they convert to sugar right away, adding the pounds. Skim milk is great, but some people think it's watery. But then again, when guests of mine drink the 1/2% milk I have in my fridge they think that's watery. It's an easy adaptation to make, and certainly one of the better fat burning foods.

It doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's definitely important to be aware of just what you're putting in your body. Integrating as many of these fat burning foods into your overall weight loss / performance fitness diet will definitely get you closer to your goals than maybe you thought possible.
