Pets – We all love them. They’re so friendly, and they never do anything harmful back to you. But sometimes harmful things happen to them. In this article I will tell you about how to remedy these problems.

Find a good veterinarian:

People who are ill-informed do not realize that not all veterinarians are the same. They all perform differently. So before you go taking your pet to a random vet, research about him and do your homework. Vets are people too, and people get greedy as well, so your vet might also be sucking your money up in unneeded operations and so on.

Make sure your pet isn’t overweight:

Many of us nowadays have problems trying to resist feeding Billy that one extra snack, or giving Poppy an extra large meal. Obesity in pets is very serious, and can seriously hurt them. Make sure that they are not obese. One way of checking whether or not they are overweight is to run your hand along your pet’s body. If you can’t feel their ribs, it means they’re overweight. If you are unsure, your vet should be able to tell you.

If your pet is overweight, here a few steps to combat it:

- Contact your vet before submitting your pet on any form of diet
- Feed your pet 3 square meals a day
- Make sure your pet gets some exercise!

Cut your pet’s nails properly:

A lot of people don’t know how to cut their pet’s nails. There are different procedures for different animals on how to cut their nails. Also, do not forget to get proper nail cutters for your pets.

Brush your pet’s teeth:

Just think about it, if you didn’t brush your teeth for 3 years, just imagine how bad your breath would smell! It’s the same for pets, they get tartar and plaque build up too. At first, your pet might not take to teeth brushing, but with time it will learn to accept it as a part of its daily routine.

However, it makes it easier if you begin to brush your pets teeth early on in their life – So whilst dogs are puppies and cats are kittens. This is because they will accept it as part of the routine easier than when they are fully grown. The proper way to brush is to use a toothbrush, without any toothpaste, and gently make circular motions inside your pets mouth. Do this by not forcing your pet’s head open, but by lifting the lip up gently. Make sure you don’t brush the gum line too hard. At the end of the teeth brushing, make sure you talk in a happy voice and reward your pet with a treat.

Recognize when your pet’s in pain:

Learn the symptoms of your pet when it is in pain. Many people don’t take notice of their pet in pain, and don’t see that it is. There are different symptoms for different animals, but as for a general note, fatigue, depression and anxiety are good ways of telling whether or not there is something wrong with your pet. If you are worried about you pet, just take it to the vet.

Don’t feed your pet bad food:

Don’t give your pet whatever you see – do your homework on the food your feeding it, and check whether or not your pet should be eating it. Don’t brush this off, as the little things begin to add up.

There are many other ways to care for your pet, but by following these, your pet will be a happy one.
