In today’s economy it’s very important for all business owners to save money. You need to offer your customers the best price and service. It’s scary out there and if you are serious about opening a new store then you have to be smart about starting up.

Spread the word about your store. Advertising is expensive but necessary. Remember you have to reach your customer about 10 time before the really get the message. Word of mouth is the best advertising another way is to pound the pavement.
Tell everyone you know that you are opening up a new store and hand them your card.

Buying your inventory will be a very large percent of your budget. Visit gift and merchandise shows. Find the best buy you can. Buy cheap, but don’t over buy product. You don’t want to have your hard earned money sitting on your store shelving for months without moving.

Always buy used store fixtures and used store gondola shelving. It is pointless to spend more money on new shelving. Consumers are more concerned about saving money on goods, not how good your shelving looks. Keep overhead low. To find quality used shelving to put in your store contact Dan at http://www.kzstorefixtures.com also ask for a discount.

You may want to do more hands on work to avoid paying high payroll costs or hire your children to stock shelving, and sweep up the floors. Many stores are shortening their hours of operations and even closing down one day a week. These are great ways to save.

Another thing to consider is location. You want your store to ideally be on a high traffic street. However rent can be pretty steep so you might want to settle for a middle of the road traffic. (Just watch out for cars!) Also talk to your potential landlord about getting the first 3 months free. You never know unless you ask and there are many empty storefront and many landlords ready to make a deal.

Once you get into your own spot make it your own. Give it a personal touch to make it feel like home. You'll be spending alot of time there so you might as well be comfortable. Paint the bathroom and add pictures and flowers, not only will this make you day nicer but your customers will feel more comfortable, too. Remember a comfortable customer is a happy customer and a happy customer is a customer that returns.

Give good deals and discounts. Customers are smart and most will do research before they shop. Make it worth it for them to come and shop at your store. But be smart about this you don't want to lose all your profit. It's nice to spring it on them, ask them if they would like a discount? Tell them is a for today only because your really like them. How many of us would like to have a discount.

These are some great tips and with alot of hardwork and a frugal mind you and your business will sprout wings.
