Wallpaper is a choice that can be easy to apply and easy to remove – if you are working with the right tools. Wallpaper can instantly add personality and age to any room and can also be used to create a modern twist within a room. Using these tips, you should be able to easily remove wallpaper from your walls. Many rooms that require wallpaper removal have all four walls covered with the paper. The task of removing the wallpaper does not have to be daunting – it can be a task easily completed.

How long has the wallpaper been present on the walls? For wallpaper that has been on the walls for years, it could be harder to remove then wallpaper that has been on the walls for one to two years. Be prepared to take extra time within the plan for wallpaper that has been on the walls for a long period of time.

Steaming the wallpaper is a good way to remove the paper from the walls. The steam is a great way to remove the paper. When steam is used, the wallpaper can be easily peeled from the wall as the steam allows the adhesive on the wallpaper to become soft, then the paper can be peeled from the wall using the proper tools. The scraper can be used to remove small sections of the wallpaper from the wall. When the wallpaper is present on the wall it is important to remove the paper without damaging the wall behind the paper. This could prevent the walls from receiving treatments in the future.

The scoring tool is combined with a chemical application to the paper which will degrade the paper, as well as the adhesive, causing it to be easily removed from the wall. The glue is what holds the wallpaper on the wall and this must be softened or degraded to successfully remove the paper from the wall.

Regardless of which method you choose to use, it is important to use the scoring device before any application is made to the paper. This scoring tool is used in a circular motion on the walls and creates small holes in the wallpaper, allowing the steam or chemical treatment to come through the holes. When scoring, it is important to preserve the drywall behind the wallpaper.

Ensure that the steamer is filled with hot water and has had enough time to warm. A steamer must be at very high temperatures in order to be an effective way to remove the wallpaper. A cold steamer will not remove the wallpaper as the steam is the main reason that the adhesive becomes degraded and removes from the paper.

When using a chemical wallpaper remover, it must be applied to the entirety of the wallpaper. Use the scoring device beforehand to ensure that the wallpaper can be easily removed from the walls. Before the wallpaper is removed it is important to view the small holes created by the scoring device, this will allow the chemical adhesive to become degraded from the paper.
