There is a very distinct and big difference between first time traffic and regular traffic. To put it simply, traffic is used to describe visitors who click on your website’s URL and visit your website in order to acquire the information that they are looking for.

Traffic indicates your standing and rank in the search engines, so of course it is one of the most important things to work on if you want your website to survive and eventually become successful.

Some internet marketers tend to become satisfied with first time traffic or visitors when in fact it should be the regular visitors they should be giving more priority to. If you are wondering how you will be able to do this, here are some tips on how to turn first time traffic into regular, long term traffic:

First-time Traffic vs Returning Traffic

First, it is important to understand what first time traffic is. This type of traffic is usually the most "expensive" type of traffic on your site (both in time and money invested to bring first-time visitors to your site).

It is also the largest under-performing group/segment of your traffic, with a conversion rate significantly lower than site average. What you are aiming for is the regular traffic, which are a lot less "expensive" than the other type of visitors and where real profits are made.

Website Traffic Facts

Your site or blog can't truly become profitable unless it appeals to new visitors to come back again and again.

Real long-term profits are always made on regular/returning visitors/customers, so you have to improve on the regular traffic in order for money to be generated everyday.

Believe it or not, most websites who do not work on the regular traffic they receive eventually lose their ranks and the potential profits they could get when optimized efficiently.

To avoid this from happening to you, here is simple formula to a successful and long term website with regular traffic everyday:

1) Build a list of verified e-mail contacts
2) Build a large base of RSS subscribers
3) Build relationship & reputation your have with your e-mail list and RSS subscribers

Another important factor traffic formula is the content of your website. The best way to hook a lot of good traffic is to have quality and informative content such as articles, tips, interviews, and some multimedia content such as videos, charts, and graphs.

Getting e-mail and/or RSS subscribers should be the highest priority for your site and your business, if want to succeed, and maximizing these tools will surely bring these in everyday.

How to Get More Traffic in RSS

RSS is a modern internet tool that allows online users to subscribe to your website, blog, etc. In order to make sure they can subscribe to your blog via RSS, place the RSS button somewhere on the top areas of your pages for it to be seen and clicked instantly by your readers. If you are more into making money through blogs, choose blog sites that already have the RSS feature such as Wordpress and Druplal.

How to Get More Traffic with your E-mail List

1. Place the sign-up form prominently on your homepage, usually “above the fold”.This means you are placing the sign-up form where it is visible on the first screen without having to scroll down.

2. Use multiply forms on your site/blog. Put your subscription forms on nearly every page in your site.

3. Give them strong reasons and benefits as to why they should subscribe. You can offer them incentives such as a free e-book, promos, special discount coupons, etc.

4. Regularly send out email newsletters to maintain constant contact with your existing subscribers.

5. Take advantage of word-of-mouse. For example, in your email newsletters and articles, ask readers to encourage their friends to subscribe as well.
