How to Achieve and Maintain a Healthy Weight

Maybe you are a very busy person, and you are too busy and too tired to find time to exercise. You may possibly be too intimidated by exercise equipment and guys in tight muscle shirts, the list can go on and on, of course you have plenty of reasons to not exercise. But you should know that there are even more reasons to exercise. It has been proven many times over that regular exercise will boost overall physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Most people will agree that exercise is an essential component to achieve long-term weight-control. Consequently, it is vital to establish an exercise routine that you can stick to and works best for you. People can always find reasons and excuses to find a way to avoid exercising!

All of us at some time have made excuses for our behavior, and the reason for our excuse is always justified. Most people lead very busy and very stressful lives, we allow ourselves to resign to the idea that we simply do not possess enough time in our day to be physically active. However, If we take the time look at what we do during the course of our day more closely, you may find that there is plenty of time being wasted with all sorts of things that you can change. Talking on the phone, meeting important deadlines, and so on, are common duties that take up small increments of time. Before you know it, you will start to believe that all these things are actually more important that your health. Being physically active is the most important thing you can do for your body.

But I really can't find the time!

Start by creating and setting a goal that will provide motivation, a good one is trying to make yourself fit into those old pair of pants. You must really want to achieve that goal, and once you have established that objective, the rest will come along quickly and easily. There is 1,440 minutes in each day, so it shouldn't be a problem for to set aside 30 of them, to get physically active, your body will thank you!

Ok I maybe have time but, exercise isn't very fun, I would rather be doing something else!

The first step is the hardest, now that you have something to motivate you, all you need to do is to find something to do that you find fun and easy. Try to only focus on one activity at a time, or maybe you are a person that needs variety in their routines. Unfortunately, exercise can be overwhelming enough, but soon you will learn to like it. Keep in mind that should always make sure to set realistic goals for yourself, otherwise maintaining them will be hard on you, and you will be more likely to fail.

There is no way I can make it to the gym!

We all know that things come up, and while we would like exercise to be really important, it is just not as important as other things that really matter. If you struggle hard to find the time to fit physical activity into your day, you are more likely to succeed. The truth is that the right exercise routine can change the way you think about exercise forever. The idea is to make exercising a habit you build into your lifestyle, just like taking a shower, or brushing your teeth.

We have all heard this time and again but the reality is that exercise is your best defense against weight gain, and most importantly it will help to prevent diseases associated with being overweight . Physical activity of any kind has also been shown to help with providing a decreased appetite for many people, and is directly associated with long-term weight loss. Try to remind yourself often of the positive benefits associated with exercise.

It is also worth noting that the mind benefits from exercise as well! By doing simple activities such as puzzles, word searches, and even just socializing, you will find an increase in overall well-being, mood, self-esteem, and the ability to deal with stress. Studies have shown these attributes to be true of persons who get regular exercise. In some cases people have experienced improvements in their daily quality-of-life, just by participating in regular exercise!
