Choosing a Personalised Key Ring

It was once said that “you can never have too many pens” and perhaps that it why I estimate that in the UK alone, 10 pens are sold for every person in the country each year, strange then that I am always looking around for one when the phone goes and I am not at my desk.

The same can now be said of key rings, as we have so many different sets of keys, be it for the car, the office, the house, or the neighbours house that likes you to keep a spare set just in case.

All of the major brands now feature key rings in their collections, and they come in all shapes and sizes, in all fabrics, and in all materials, precious metals and finishes.

For this reason, a personalised key ring will always be a welcomed gift, and by nature of the fact that you have taken particular care not just to find and choose the perfect one, but also to decide on how and what to personalise it with for them, ensuring that they will be delighted use it and enjoy it forever.

The choice can however be daunting, but personally, I really love key rings that shine and shimmer, they are easier to find in a bag or briefcase, they enhance your other accessories, and I particularly enjoy using those that are embellished with Swarovski crystals, they are so luxurious, they could even be called pieces of jewellery.

Because I think that if you are going to give a key ring as a gift, you really must give a personalised key ring, I tend to prefer ones that are made from metal, such as Siler Plated ones. I find that it is much easier to have the key ring engraved and personalised in any way you want that if you choose for instance a plastic or fabric keyring.

A Silver Plated personalised key ring makes a perfect gift, and most of the good ones will enable you to engrave a message on both sides making it truly personal.

If it is for a special occasion, such as a 21st or 18th birthday gift, which we often call “coming of age” its is perfect to engrave the date and the age on one side, and then on the other have a personal message with their name or initials.

I saw a fabulous idea when at a recent wedding, where the bride and groom had an elegant Silver Plated key ring engraved with the name of the guest on one side, so that when we got to the table, instead of there being a standard place card, there was this beautiful engraved key ring with my name on it, serving as a place card and a personalised wedding favour in one go.

As a finishing touch, on the reverse it had the name of the bride and groom, the date and it said “thank you for sharing our special day”. I have to say that this was a fabulous way to thank us as guests and what I thought was even more special was that the men had a different personalised key ring to the women.

My opinion is that you can say anything you want on a personalised key ring, but try and keep it short and elegant, crazy messages might seem funny when you first read them, but might become a bit embarrassing for the recipient the day after, and then your hard work in choosing and buying a personalised key ring would be wasted.
