Travel at Christmas Time

For years, you've spent the traditional Christmas celebrations with family and friends. This year, you want something else like communing with Mother Nature while her snow capped mountains glisten in the horizon and while her fir trees show off wonderful snowflakes on its frozen boughs. Or you would like to bundle the family and hie off to rural areas where Christmas is celebrated the old-fashioned way.

One place to go is the Rockies. The place is packed with fun activities for all family members. There's the gingerbread decorating contest, honest-to-goodness sleigh rides or horse drawn rides at Fort Steele, a drive around town to take in the festive light displays or spend a quiet evening by the fire in one of the cottages to let.

There's still time to go out there. So pluck that travel wallet from obscurity. It's time to travel - you have to take along that regulation passport for identification purposes. Yes siree, you can have your fun travel with the family without spending a fortune.

Some adjustments may be made with your Christmas budget. Realign that food budget for travel expenses; in the Rockies, you take the family to a fancy or rustic restaurant for the Christmas dinner and still have your favorite pies, cakes, and steak. Your travel wallet should be ready with the cash, credit cards, and your passport ID. That is what your travel wallet for.

Other Places for a Christmas Holiday

If distance is a problem, you can check out the holiday places nearest your state. Wisconsin is a nice spot for Christmas holidays. The rustic and rugged byways overlooking the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River is a perfect setting for romantic evenings and rehashing family tales by the fireplace on Christmas Eve.

Daytime exploration along to the Apostle Islands or Firefox Botanical Gardens can keep you and your kids busy. Just remember to tuck in your travel wallet anywhere you go in case there will a need for unexpected purchases. It pays to be ready for anything so you won't spoil your vacation wasting time rushing back to the hotel to get your wallet.

If it's the big city beckons, go to New York! New York is for the tireless walker and guess what, for bird lovers too. You can get an eyeful of plumes and an earful of bird song at the NYC Audobon Society on 71 West 23rd Street. Have a yen for fresh produce? Go get it at Balducci's and if you're too tired to go out for dinner with the kids, order your evening meal from Dial-A-Dinner.

Shopping for European fashion? Hie off to Dollar Bills. You can find all the Armani, Byblos and Ferre from this shop at fair prices. For the kids, Kidstown in 10 East 14th Street is your place. Don't forget to drop your travel wallet into your tote at the risk of rushing back to your hostel just when you've spotted a nice pair of Keds.

Ready for a Christmas holiday out of town? Get going and stuff your travel wallet fast.
