Eyelid surgery is one of the quickest and easiest cosmetic surgery procedures out there. The risk of complications is small. Still, before you get the work done, you should make sure that you know what to expect after the operation.
Your eye lid surgery can be a success or a failure, depending on how well you follow your surgeon's post-surgical instructions during the recovery process. Most people are happy with the results of their cosmetic surgery. The key is for you to know exactly what to expect and what to do after your procedure.

After Your Eyelid Surgery - What You Can Expect

In order to raise your droopy eyelids, remove excess tissue or get rid of the bags under your eyes, your doctor will make a series of tiny incisions. Making sure these incisions heal correctly is your number one job after the operation.

For the first two days or so after the operation, your incisions will be covered with ointment to keep them from scarring.

The point here is to prevent swelling or bruising, and the key is to keep the moisturized. This ointment works to make sure your eyelids have all the moisture they need. Your doctor may also ask you to use small bandages or ice packs.

There will always be some redness, bumpiness and irritation. That's just part of the healing process. In the case where there is severe scarring that doesn't go away, you can get it fixed with a revision. Revision surgery means basically going back for a touch-up. It's also an option if you are unhappy with the results of your eye lid procedure. Most clinics offer some kind of deal for revision surgery. This is a good thing to ask about in your consultation.

For two weeks or so after your procedure, you will have to take it easy with your newly rejuvenated eyelids. This may mean refraining from regular activities you enjoy and staying home from work. Your doctor will instruct you on exactly what you should do.

During this period, your doctor may give you eye drops to use in order to keep them from drying out. Your eyelids need all the moisture they can get to heal properly. For these two weeks, there still may be some irritation, redness or bumpiness, but as long as you can see it getting better day by day, it's no problem. If it gets worse, or stays the same, talk to your doctor.

Your doctor will also give you a list of environments you should avoid. This will usually include smoky places, dusty areas, or other places with dry air. Following your doctor's orders is key to letting your eyelids heal right.

Finally, after two weeks at the most, your eyelids will be healed and you will have a newly rejuvenated look. Eyelid surgery takes years off your eyes, and gives you a more restful and relaxed look. It works wonders against the age! Get a consultation today and see what it can do for you.
