Choosing a printer is like choosing a partner. You have to look at their looks, their logo and their image. You have to look at their skills, in this case their printing samples and past work. You also have to look if they are expensive and on your level. Scrutinizing these details are a good practice since in the end, once you have chosen a printing company, there is always a commitment that must be honored. Just like with any significant partner.

To help you judge their printing samples and other printing company qualities, we have a few steps or guidelines that you can follow as you peruse your way through printing websites to find the right kind of printer for you.

First off, take your time in deciding. Also, it’s just like choosing a partner. You don’t have to “love” the first beautiful and affordable thing that comes along. Take your time and study how the printing company operates. Do they have printing samples? Do their sample prints convey a certain kind of quality? Ask yourself those few little questions before fully deciding on your choice of printer. This saves you the time that you may have lost if you made a quick decision. Rush jobs always suffer from lack of quality or from numerous mistakes. If you just chose your printing company on the fly and not studied their capabilities you might be looking at a protracted process of design and redesign. Or worse you may have spent all that money on a low quality product. So always make time and let your mind absorb all the qualities of each color printer before committing to anything.

Next, always compare prices. Rich or poor company alike, you should always compare prices. It is just standard practice. People always need the better deal. They always want to maximize the quality of printed work and minimize the cost. Other people though would not mind the price too much as long as it is worth it in terms of quality printing. Again look at the company’s sample designs to get an idea of how a certain price of an item corresponds to its actual look. See if the prices are workable for you. Use your judgment in the lines of quality vs. price for the different companies you are looking through.

Afterwards, analyze the printer’s capabilities. Do they offer free sample printing of printed works? Do they have a design staff that can help you? What are the usual things they print? What print medium are they most skillful in making? What other extra options and package deals do they offer? List down each of the company’s strength to get a better idea of how equipped they are at printing different things.

Finally, look at the delivery options. Determine how fast their printers work. First test it by having them print samples of your work. Also look and see if they have overnight rush options as well as a standard 3-5 day delivery schedules for printing. See if this fits your purposes for printing. Are they quick enough? Is there a loss in quality?

Great! Once you have answered all the questions in this process you should have a pretty clear idea of the character of each printing company you are scrutinizing. You may already have a favorite in mind. As a last test, look at the printing samples for each company and place them side by side. See if any one of them stands out. Hopefully this helps you out a lot. Good luck and judge gently but firmly as well.
