There are many companies that offer online printing services due to the fact that many people do not want to be bothered with printing themselves. Is not that easy to get it right. Leaving it to the professionals is sometimes the best solution.

You don't have to bother with which photo paper to buy and paying for it. And what about the photo paper that is wasted by having to do it over again? You also don't have to worry about the colored ink cartridges, the costs and running out of ink. Sizing your prints correctly can also be an issue.

So, how do you select a good company for online digital printing? There are many online printing companies out there with many, many mixed reviews. Here are some things to look for.

What is the purpose of sending your pics out for printing and paying for it, if the quality is not there. So one of the most important things is to find a company that will produce excellent prints. Quality among companies vary. Not only that, but sometimes you will find that results even within one company are not consistent. However, a company should consistently provide good results most of the time.

Once you receive your prints, make sure the color, brightness and attention to detail is good. After all, the printing companies are supposed to be professional. However, if your print has problems to begin with, you will be better off fixing them yourself for best results. There are some very simple photo editing programs available, and many are free.

Speaking of results and quality, what is the company guarantee? Will they re-print your photos if you are not happy with what you receive? Will the re-printing be free, or do you just get a credit?

Most online printing services will allow you to choose glossy or matte paper.

What about turn around time? How long will it take for you to receive your pictures? All online photo printing services will mail your photos to you. It's just a matter of how many days you have to wait. The fees for expedited delivery can be quite hefty. Some companies provide local pickup. Your digital prints can be ready in as little as 1 hour.

Photo upload times to the site and simplicity of ordering is another thing to consider. Let's face it, if it becomes time consuming or complicated, that is not what you are looking for. You want ease of ordering.

Pricing should be fair. Many times when you start out with a company, they will offer you free prints. This is a good way to try them out and see the results.

One other thing that is not necessary but a nice feature is gift ordering. For example, you might like to order a mug, t-shirt, or mouse pad with one of your photos for yourself or to give as a gift. Once again, this low on the list, but it can be fun.
