There is a huge amount of choice out there if you’re looking to take a well earned break. Firstly, there are a huge range of trekking holidays to choose from. You can wrap up warm and hike in the Himalaya or experience the humidity of the Amazon rainforest. You can do anything from a gentle walk along easy trails to a strenuous high-altitude trek. Most trekking holidays can also encompass other holiday activities such as adventure sports, sight-seeing or simply relaxing. You can choose where you’re going to go and what you’re going to do as opposed to being tied down to one specific area and activity. A walking holiday really does give you a tremendous sense of freedom and possibility.

It is this sense of freedom that walking and trekking gives you that turns your holiday into an adventure. After looking at a brochure and reading an itinerary, you still don’t realise how incredible an adventure you are on until you are experiencing the trek itself. With life at home becoming increasingly sedentary, a holiday that gives you both exercise and enjoyment is a great change from the norm.

Lastly, and most importantly, trekking holidays are great fun. The mix of companionship on the trek, the sense of achievement when you reach your destination and freedom from the routine experiences of life make trekking holidays a hugely enjoyable option for anyone. Normal beach or city break holidays will seem flat and predictable after you have experienced adventure, fun and activity in one holiday, trekking the world.
