My goodness...I just wrote this article and deleted it by accident, so I have to write it again...arrgh.

This isn't a what if situation...it really did just happen to me and you can imagine my frustration. This is one of the reasons why I got out of this business in the first place.

Now, onto my article.

If you are considering data entry as a profession, I urge you to do just one thing. Take is seriously and regard it as a real business.

Data entry can be anything from journal entries, payroll, ledgers, directories and a slew of other sit at home on your computer typing kind of jobs. I may be a little sarcastic but thats just because it took me 15 mins to write that last article and now its gone.

Now I believe there are 5 questions that you should ask yourself before moving onto the next step in securing your financial freedom.

1. Are you capable of evaluation and assessing the right opportunities when they come along?

2. Can you be flexible and understand your customer and know that every customer will be different?

3. Can you build a database to be used for your marketing endeavors?

4. Will you love this job?

5. Do you really have the time it requires to be successful?

If you can answer yes to all of these questions then I believe that you can start looking for suitable companies to do business with.

The first thing you'll need to do is search online to find out what companies are offering projects and how much they pay. Another great point I would like to make is to make sure that you find out as much as you can about the company that you will be working as a freelancer for...because sometime those companies "forget" to pay. Due diligence is in order.

Now that you have found 2-3 companies that look promising you can start accepting jobs. But hold on there cowboy or cowgirl, don't bite off more than you can chew. Those people on the other end are hiring you to do a job and to do it well This means you have to take this seriously and you have to provide them with quality work and with a quick turnaround.

Do not take this responsibility lightly because they can and will fire you with a quickness. Like I mentioned before, take this job seriously and provide quality so that you can establish a small base of customers.

After you have made these few costomers happy, be assured, you will start to be able to get references from them for bigger and higher paying jobs. Since you will probably never meet these people from these companies, your reputation is literally on the line.

This is all great and fun for a while while your business is getting off the ground. But now that you have started to build your client database, you will be spending less and less time with your friends and loved ones. And for this reason alone, is why I stopped doing data entry work.
