It is not an expensive proposition to have all kinds of patio statues or water features surrounding you when you are sitting on your patio looking out over your garden. Angels and cherubs add a soothing atmosphere to the patio allowing you to enhance the exterior of your home. Statues made of concrete or wrought iron will last for many years and since these items are very small, you can easily move them around or take them inside during the winter months.

Wooden patio statues and wooden wall water fountains (http://www.garden-fountains.com) are also excellent choices for a patio made of wood. The best type of statue to choose is one that is made from acacia wood because it is a dense hardwood that resists water and will not stain. It is also resistant to insects so it will not bring termites and ants to your patio. You may occasionally need to give it a quick rub with mineral oil to preserve the beauty of the wood. To clean such statues before you lay them out on the patio in the spring you can easily wash them in soapy water, rinse them off and let them dry in the air.

Coco wood and pine are also woods suitable for patio statues. Acacia statues are the longest lasting – forty years or more, but coco wood will last for about 15 years before it starts to show any signs of aging. Pine does not last as long, but you can enjoy its beauty for about five years or more. You do have to protect statues made of pine from the rain because the water will cause deep cracks due to the cycle of being wet and then drying out.

Making patio statues the focal point of your patio will add to its appeal. There are many such statues that are also water wall fountains (http://www.garden-fountains.com/florentine-fountains/the-wall-fountains-of-florentine-sculptors-home.htm) so you can combine the delicate look of the statue with the peaceful sound of trickling water. You can also express your love of art in the statues that you choose. There are many ways in which you can create a theme to your patio in the statues you select and the locations in which you place them.

If you don’t have a lot of floor space on the patio, there are patio statues that you can attach to the fencing around the patio or simply lay them on a tabletop. Placing candles around the statue or choosing a statue that will accommodate a candle or two is one way of adding lighting to the patio or creating a romantic atmosphere.

You will find various designs and sizes of patio statues at your local garden store or on sites online. Browse through the many styles to choose statues you feel will suit your patio and not go over the decorating budget you have in place. By searching for these statues online, you can also view many different pictures of patios that will give you ideas of ways in which you can enhance your patio, such as with an outdoor wall fountain (http://www.garden-fountains.com/Categories.bok?category=Wall+Fountains) statue. The statue can be one that holds a Welcome sign for your visitors or one that is quite humorous giving your visitors a laugh and helping them to feel at ease.

Whereas a large statue will make a small garden look bigger, this is not the case with patio statues. You do have to be cognizant of the amount of space you have and not choose a statue that will make the patio feel crowded or leave less space for you to move about.
