If you’re in the market to purchase a small refrigerator, you’re going to realize that the options are a lot different than your typical refrigerator built for a kitchen. I’m going to show you some of the options that you’ll find with your typical smaller appliances.

Look at the shelves

The shelves are going to vary by model. Some of the models you’re going to find that they glass shelves while others have a plastic shelves. The glass ones are a lot easier to clean seeing that you’re able to see exactly what you’re cleaning. Unlike plastic, it’s hard to clean up some of the rough spots.

Digital and older thermostats

You’re going to have to control the temperature and some will have your simple turn the knob and set it while other advanced ones today have a digital thermostat. These are kind of cool because you’re able to set the temperate instead of a number such as 1-5. This makes it more energy efficient and will cut back on your energy bills.

Organization methods

The main thing you’re going to want to look at when getting a smaller refrigerator is the organizational methods. Since the fridge will be so small, it will be better if you can organize your items easier. Things you’ll see that help you organize things better are things like soda can holders, trays for leftover foods, shelves for condiment bottles such as mustard, dressing, etc and trays built specifically for ice. These are all going to be different so make sure you do your research when looking to purchase.

Doors

Some refrigerators are going to have more doors than others. Since most will only have 2 at a maximum, you’ll find that with the smaller versions that they only have 1. If you want a freezer attached to it, they are going to be fairly small where you can only fit a few frozen dinners in them compared to an normal one, where you can fit more than this obviously.

Sliding out shelves

Sometimes you’ll find it easier to slide out the shelving so that you can either get something or clean it. This is where the sliding shelves come in handy. Not all models have this but if you do want this option, you’re going to pay a little bit more money but it’s usually worth it.

These are the main options that you’ll find when looking to get a smaller fridge. Make sure that you consider all the options. Generally, the more options you get, the more it’s going to cost you. This is why it’s important to mark down all the options that you want when you’re considering purchasing one. Generally, these appliances are going to cost you anywhere from $90 to just as much as $500. If you’re using this for college or for a temporary purpose, I would recommend you get a lower model but if you want this for a bar or something nice in your home, I would get a higher end model that will last longer.
