There are a few things that you need when you play cornhole. You need two cornhole boards which are low boards with holes cut in one side. They need to be placed approximately 27 feet apart with the front ends facing in opposite directions. Four players divided into 2 teams that have 2 people on each team usually play. Each team has 4 cornhole bags each to throw. The players stand in between the boards at the midway point so it is easy to toss to each of the boards.

The goal of the game is to get the highest score in each round until one team reaches 21 points. The team that reaches 21 points first wins cornhole. When you begin play you will need to determine which team takes the first toss. You then decide which team goes first in subsequent rounds according to who has the highest score after each round. If both teams have a tie on a round then the score from the previous round will be used to decide who goes first.

Scoring for the game is simple. The object of the game is to throw the bags to the cornhole boards and get each bag into the hole or at least onto the board. If your bag lands on the board you will get one point and every bag that lands inside of the cornhole board gets three points each. The score is tallied by subtracting each team’s points at the end of the round. The first team that reaches 21 points is the winner of the game. Teams can also win if they go over 21 before the other team reaches 21. Any score of 11 or more points to 0 points is called a skunk.

An example of scoring is as follows: If team A has 1 bag on the board and 2 cornhole bags in the hole they have 7 points, one for the bag on the board and six for the bags in the hole. If team B has 2 cornhole bags on the board and have in the hole they have 5 points, three for the bag in the hole and two for the bags on the board. You subtract the two scores from each other and are left with 2 points. Team A who had the most bags in the hole gets the 2 points and the other team gets zero.

Cornhole is a lot of fun to play with family and friends for many occasions. The game is really simple to play which makes it suitable for beginners and experienced players alike. It is best to play the game with two cornhole boards and four players, but if you only have one board or less than four players you can still have a great time. If you have never tired cornhole it is a great game and one that can be enjoyed by all.
