The credit bureaus themselves tell us that up to 79% of the credit reports contain errors, and yours is no exception. You pay for these errors with higher credit card interest, home mortgages, and car loans. And the credit bureaus are not interested in finding those errors and fixing them – that’s your job.

So what do you do if you’re one of the 79% of people with mistakes on your credit report? Our advice to you is don’t go down the road of looking for a quick fix. It eventually will turn around and bite you. It’s better to do it right and legal.

According to Fair Isaac, lenders would probably demand about a 9.8 percent interest rate on a $300,000, 30-year fixed mortgage for a credit score between 500 and 579. That would translate into a $2,585 monthly payment for principal and interest.

But a borrower with a score between 760 and 850 seeking the same loan would qualify for about a 6 percent rate that would cost just $1,796 a month for principal and interest. That savings of $789 each month would total $284,040 over 30 years. Just for having a higher credit score!

In writing this article we did a complete research in order to give you an accurate picture of what is involved to correct errors on your credit reports. Here are some things that you must know if you want things to get better.

Credit Repair Is Legal

You have the same right to challenge anything on your credit report that you feel is in error, the same as entering a not guilty plea if you are accused of a crime.

You Can Challenge These Items Yourself – You Have That Right

Unfortunately, the credit bureaus rules regarding errors are designed to make it difficult for you to challenge them. For instance, EACH item must be disputed separately and proof of the error provided IN WRITING. Then the creditor has 30 days to respond, after which the bureau will decide who is right and who is wrong. Because of the time it takes to challenge errors many people get discouraged and stop.

Many times it is in your best interest to engage a credit repair law firm to do the corrections because they have expertise that you don’t have. A credit attorney can get your credit errors corrected more efficiently and quickly because they know the system and how to dispute items correctly. Plus they have the time to do the follow up that you probably don’t have. And if you want to increase your credit score speed is important. AND because they are attorneys a letter from them carries more weight than from you.

The research we've done convinced us that Lexington Law was the best credit law firm — anywhere. They have impeccable credentials and they are affordable. If you aren’t satisfied they offer a money back guarantee.

If you want to research credit repair companies on your own though, here’s some tips you should be aware of:

Beware of companies who claim FTC endorsement. The FTC does not endorse any business. Many companies will imply FTC endorsement without coming outright and saying so. Proceed at your own risk.

Stay away from any credit repair company that suggest a new identity by applying for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) to replace your Social Security number. This is illegal and can get you into serious trouble that can result in fines or imprisonment.

Finally beware of any credit repair services that don’t disclose your full rights.

A surprising number of Americans have a bankruptcy listed on their report that should not be there. Bankruptcy is to your credit what a nuclear bomb is to war. A bankruptcy may be your problem, but that does not always mean it’s your fault. Over 500,000 people declared bankruptcy last year. That amounts to more than a half million chances for a bankruptcy to mistakenly end up on your credit reports. It’s an easy mistake to make.

If you have ever dialed the wrong phone number you can understand how such a mistake could happen. We have all been told that a bankruptcy remains for 10 years on your credit reports and that they cannot be removed. Well, yes they can if they are wrong.

Start the process moving by contacting a professional credit repair attorney service like Lexington Law or Ovation now. Get your credit fixed ASAP. You deserve the best!
