The world wide web is a unique place where a connection to the internet is all that is needed to communicate with everyone else across the globe. More specifically, email has provided a method of communication that is as fast as a phone call, but with the benefit of text like a fax machine, and the convenience that only a computer can provide of being able to send and reply at any time that is convenient, attaching files, and editing the content.

However, not everybody is aware of all that internet communication has to offer. Nor do they necessarily know about the risks that can be associated with digital messages. Unless users know how to properly protect themselves, they are at risk of scams, hacking, identity thieves, stalkers, and other people who are up to less-than-ethical activities online.

Being able to perform an email search can provide you with the tools you need to increase your safety and security online. You can have more confidence in your correspondence online, and can put a stop to unwanted contacts while knowing that you aren’t exposing your computer to any more viruses, worms, or spyware.

Of course, the benefits don’t stop there. Consider the following top five reasons for email searches:

1. Just because you have an email address, it doesn’t mean that everyone who writes to you will be someone you want to hear from. If you are receiving unwanted emails, you can always find out who the sender is and take action to stop them by performing a trace and finding out who is really behind the nuisance.

2. If you are unsure of the sender of a message in your inbox, it’s always good to take that extra step to protect your computer from malware by finding out who sent it in the first place. That way, if the name happens to look familiar, or the subject line looks inviting, you can be sure of the sender before putting our computer at risk.

3. Junk mail can be very irritating, especially when it seeps its way through your spam filter and makes it into your inbox. Though there isn’t really a way to stop every single one from getting in, you can put some of it to a halt by finding out where it’s coming from and either unsubscribing to whatever list you’re on, making a request that the sender doesn’t message you anymore, or simply adding that specific sending address to your block list.

4. When you receive a message requesting sensitive information, you can check into that email’s source to help you to determine whether or not it is legitimate.

5. If you are being harassed by someone online, you can perform a reverse email search and find out who they are. That way, either you or the authorities can take the appropriate actions to put this to an immediate stop.

Of course, there are many other reasons that you might want to use an email lookup, but those are the top five for searchers around the world.
